⚠️ NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT ⚠️ We are happy to announce our partnership with ePowerSteering to bring more awesome product offerings to the Datsun market. We recently installed an ePowerSteering system in our Development 280zx Turbo build, and it makes all the difference. We are already very big proponents of electric power steering conversions in the S30 chassis, but this particular application required as much help as we could get. This 280zx features a full Apex Engineered front and rear suspension setup, with a de-powered rack, and quick knuckles. This makes the car quite a chore to drive, and ePowerSteering was the perfect solution for it. We now offer ePowerSteering kits for purchase directly on our website, and will soon be releasing 3d Printed panels that fit their respective chassis for the adjustment knob. Another milestone reached thanks to @epowersteering A few years ago I had started an EPAS conversion with a Prius column and got as far as the wiring. In over my head, the project sat until I could up my skills or find a shop willing to take on the project. There were no Subaru EPAS conversion kits on the market…. until now. Their kit uses a Saturn Vue column and install was straight forward with the provided directions. I didn’t end up using the provided ECU bracket and mounted it in the OE location on the column. Much of the wiring was already setup from the Prius column, so all I really had to do was cut/ pin the power supply and EPS controller to the motor. I did however end up having to swap out the 4pin brake light switch for the smaller profile 2pin (non-cruise control) switch to give the EPAS motor more clearance. I believe most older Subarus also have connectors for both switches already in the harness. I used AC Delco part # D884A for that. After some minor adjustments to fit the forester, I tossed on my @getnrg hub and quick release then installed this beautiful @ompracing Corsica Superleggero suede wheel 🤌🏾 To finish things up I trimmed and refit the STi gauge cluster, odometer adjusted to match the chassis by @g_rom_clusters . Using @ozgaugepod cluster pod I mounted my AEM wideband, Cartek brake light switch, and warning light for the gauges. Firing up the electrical system for the first time I was able to give it a test and I was impressed at how much assist it gave. I can’t wait to get this thing on the ground and see what a difference it makes vs traditional hydro power steering. For anyone wondering, the rack is a @prs_quick_steering_rack 2.2 turns lock to lock unit that I’ve been running for the last 8 years and it’s now fully de-powered.
