My grandmother, my Shasha, was a magnificent dancer. Beyond having perfect form, when she moved, she radiated joy from the tips of her fingers, to her smile, and all the way down to her pointed toes. We often took dance class together and I always tried (and failed) to keep up with her. She introduced me to Bob Fosse and Jerome Robbins; to Singin' in the Rain and A Chorus Line. Performance and art was our love language.
She also was an incredible cook, a voracious reader, a frequent LA Times contributor, a beautiful painter, a musical enthusiast, my confidant, my biggest cheerleader and my creative North Star. She was remarkably smart, supportive, open-minded, vivacious and beautiful. She had a lust for life and always showed up for the people she loved. She truly was 'one singular sensation'. I miss her so much.
May she dance forevermore 💙
