2025 was another year of challenges for our planet š
Hotter temperatures, biodiversity loss, and rising uncertainty.
But thereās hope.
Together with our members, EOCA has funded over 220 conservation projects in 65+ countries, protecting habitats, endangered species, and reconnecting people with nature.
As we look ahead to our 20th anniversary in 2026, weāre taking bold steps: expanding advocacy, refining grants, and giving members better tools to track impact.

š³ The EU finally published its long overdue review of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). But the news is not all good.
The world still lost 4.3 million hectares of tropical primary forest in 2025, equivalent to more than 11 football fields of forest per minute. And the crisis is accelerating.
There is concern over one proposed change, the removal of leather and cattle hides from the list of in-scope products. Extensive cattle ranching is the number one cause of deforestation in virtually every Amazon country, so the exclusion of leather from EUDR is a huge setback in tackling this global crisis. šæ
This is why EOCA and @icebugofficial have issued a joint statement calling for this damaging proposal to be dropped.

Over the weekend, a project EOCA co-funded with the @orangutanssos made global headlines!
Featured in @guardian@bbcnews@skynews@cbsnews and outlets across Southeast Asia.
For the first time ever, a wild Sumatran orangutan was recorded using a rope bridge built over a highway cutting through its forest habitat.
Helen Buckland, CEO of SOS: āWe're thrilled to share in the excitement of this milestone moment for Sumatran orangutan conservation with EOCA and all your members. Your funding for our work in West Toba included supporting these canopy bridges - lifelines for the orangutans previously trapped on either side of the road. The simplicity of the canopy bridge solution is such a powerful example of what practical, hopeful conservation can look like, reconnecting fragments of forest so wildlife can move safely again.ā
This bridge is a lifeline and it exists because of the EOCA members and community.
