Stateless people face the risk of rights violations every day because most European States lack a proper process to determine statelessness and provide a route out of limbo. In our latest guest blog, Stefan Leonescu of @jrs_romania explores statelessness past and present in Romania, and how urgent legislative change - including introducing a Statelessness Determination Procedure (SDP) - is needed to improve the recognition and rights of stateless people in Romania. 🔗 Read more via our linktree. #Statelessness #Romania #SDPs

📢 What is our new Guide to Collaborative Advocacy? And how will it help stateless changemakers engage in advocacy? Stateless people often tell us they feel absent from advocacy spaces. They want to know how to lead and engage in meaningful collaborative advocacy and to promote advocacy spaces that respect and value lived expertise. In response, @enstatelessness @statefree.world and @apatride.network have jointly developed a Guide to Collaborative Advocacy on Statelessness. 👀 Watch our video to find out more, and download the Guide from our linktree. #Statelessness #Advocacy #StatelessChangemakers #Europe

🫂 Caring about children's rights means caring about the rights of every child. 📢 Our latest guest blog in our new series on identifying and protecting stateless people in Europe. In today's guest blog, Leonor Félix da Costa of @jrsportugal explains why Portugal is at a crossroads in its approach to statelessness. "While references to stateless people exist across national legislation, the country still lacks a formal procedure to identify and recognise stateless individuals – a crucial first step to grant them protection." "The growing recognition of statelessness under EU law – in particular through the Pact on Migration and Asylum – marks important progress. The new requirement for Member States to identify indications of statelessness is a clear sign that the issue is gaining visibility at the EU level." For our latest interview, we spoke to Tamás Molnár, Senior Legal Researcher and Project Manager at the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). FRA plays a key role in monitoring how EU Member States are implementing the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum as the June 2026 deadline approaches. 🔗 Learn more via our linktree. #Statelessness #EU #Migration #Asylum

Statelessness can go unidentified for a long time. It is not always easy to spot, and service providers often don’t know what to do when statelessness comes up, or even to consider nationality issues in the first place. Today, we are launching our new toolkit, developed with @justrightscot with support of @scotgov , to help frontline practitioners identify when somebody they are working with might be stateless. This toolkit is for: 🔹 Social workers 🔸 Healthcare workers 🔹 Registrars 🔸 Teachers 🔹 Migrant and refugee support workers 🔸 Community organisations 🔹 Guardians 🔸 And more! It provides practical tips on how to identify statelessness and signpost those affected to the right information, legal advice and support. 🔗 Read more via our linktree. With thanks to @justrightscot @scotgov @cosla_scotland @britishredcross @scottishrefugeecouncil and Guardianship Scotland, and New Scots Core Group Advisor, Hossa Skandary-Macpherson. The publication of this toolkit was supported by a grant from The Scottish Government. #Statelessness #Scotland

In our latest guest blog, Mia Dambach and Deneisha Moss reflect on the work of the Identity Rights Working Group (IDRWG) in collaborating to safeguard children's identity rights. The IDRWG is comprised of more than 25 international agencies and civil society organisations working on human rights, including ENS, and focuses on three main identity rights: immediate birth registration, that every child should have a nationality and be able to know their origins and family relations. The importance of this work has only grown in the context of the UN’s ongoing liquidity crisis. 🔗 Learn more about how the IDRWG works to safeguard children's rights amid ongoing global challenges via the link in our bio. #Statelessness #ChildrensRights #IdentityRights
