We had a great deal of fun last week, playing music to the silent film classic Die Austernprinzessin from 1919 by Ernst Lubitsch. It was truly amazing to play at the Great Hall of @wienerkonzerthaus on Wednesday as part of the series FILM + MUSIK LIVE. Many Thanks to Martin Matalon, for his wonderful composition and for conducting us through the evening with a steady hand, to everyone who helped do make this concert a success, as well as to a numerous and enthusiastic audience last Wednesday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All photos: Markus Bruckner

PHACE is Putting the gloves on for Wednesday night at @wienerkonzerthaus : We're already stoked to play alongside Ernst Lubitsch's early masterpiece Die Austernprinzessin. On March 21, 2026, in the Berio Saal of the Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna, this concert took place, marked by a reunion with my colleagues from PHACE Ensemble. The project was conceived along an experimental line, based on the interaction between the ensemble’s instruments and a series of mechanical objects activated on stage. These elements generated additional sonic layers, integrating into the musical discourse. The devices did not function as external elements, but as part of the ensemble, establishing rhythmic and timbral relationships with the instruments. Through this interaction, a sonic space emerged in which different levels of activity coexisted.

SKULPT | PHACE series 2025/26 N°3 21.Mar.2026 // 19:30 Wiener Konzerthaus, Berio-Saal https://phace.at/project/phace-skulpt/ On Saturday we start the third round of our concert series »merry-go-round« at Wiener Konzerthaus with an evening between icy calm and feverish heat, blending instrumental, mechanical, and electronic sounds into hybrid sonic landscapes with music by @z__a__r__a.wav , Enno Poppe and Agata Zubel. Two new works will see their premiere at our concert: by Arturo Fuentes, who expands the instrumental sound space with mechanical devices in "SKULPT" , and by @yuheng_chenn , who creates an almost static, architectural sound structure in "To a Bubbling Fountain Stirr’d with Wind".
