There is something about Jonathan Dove’s writing that feels like it belongs to the cosmos. “Seek him that maketh the seven stars” is a literal masterclass in light, rhythm, and expansive vocal color. Ensemble Altera (@ensemblealtera ) delivers a rendition that is so refined and shimmering, it practically glows. 🇺🇸 Under the direction of Christopher Lowrey, the ensemble navigates those soaring, weightless lines while John Black provides the iconic, pulsating organ part that feels like flickering starlight. It’s a breathtaking reminder of how choral music can make a room feel infinite, pulling everyone into a moment of pure, celestial stillness. What is your favorite piece of “celestial” choral music? Drop your recommendations in the comments! 👇✨ • Via ─ @ensemblealtera • Song: “Seek him that maketh the seven stars” Performed by: Ensemble Altera (@ensemblealtera ) 🇺🇸 Conductor: Christopher Lowrey Composer: Jonathan Dove Organ: John Black • DM for credit or removal request (no copyright intended). ©️ All rights and credits reserved to the respective owner(s) #choir #chorus #singing #dailychoirs #acapella

Happy Easter 🌿🐑✨ If you’re looking for something special and seasonal to listen to today, The Lamb’s Journey (Chandos; March 2024) with @ensemblealtera & @christopherlowrey is it. They commissioned ‘Worthy is the Lamb’ for the album, and I was - and still am - completely blown away by this performance: electrifying sound, sheer dynamism… utterly compelling singing at its very best ⚡️🤍

Let’s be real: some pieces of music are just cultural resets. Samuel Barber took his iconic Adagio for Strings and transcribed it for voices, creating what I truly believe is one of the most beautiful compositions to ever exist. It’s a relentless climb toward a climax that feels like the sky is opening up. Watching @ensemblealtera under Christopher Lowrey tackle this is a lesson in pure endurance. The way they sustain those soaring, ethereal lines without losing an ounce of tension is actually mind-blowing. This isn’t just a performance; it’s a high-stakes emotional journey that leaves you breathless by the final “dona nobis pacem.” Does this piece make you as emotional as it makes me? Share your thoughts below. 🕊️ • Via ─ @ensemblealtera • Song: “Agnus Dei” Performed by: Ensemble Altera (@ensemblealtera ) 🇺🇸 Conductor: Christopher Lowrey Composer: Samuel Barber • DM for credit or removal request (no copyright intended). ©️ All rights and credits reserved to the respective owner(s) #choir #chorus #singing #dailychoirs #acapella
