In one week we will be welcoming the
@solemquartet for a concert of Music spanning 800 years, from 12th Century plainsong right up to the present day. They will open the programme with a work by Hildegard Von Bingen-but who was she? Born around the year 1098, Hidegard Von Bingen is possibly one of the most remarkable women ever to have lived. Her simple, monophonic, sacred music tells of a time of simplicity and peace, where the divine and the real were often mixed. Will Newell, the quartetâs second violinist, has arranged her music for string quartet adding his own harmonies and textures, combining the 21st century with the 12th, creating a whole new soundworld. #plainchant #hildegardvonbingen #newmusic #localmusic #se26
