DOWN HERE, GRAPHIC SCORE A collaboration between Composer @eskaonline ESKA, Graphic Designer @lcwiola Lorena Cantó Woltèche & Musicologist @juliaowczarek.music Julia Owczarek This artwork reflects a deep longing for connection and explores the duality between reality and fantasy, illustrating how music serves as a bridge between these two realms. At times, music can feel more real than the world itself, offering the escape and profound sense of presence. Following Julia Owczarek’s analysis, the composition transitions from a linear structure to an abstract intertwining of voices, leading to a dynamic conclusion. The tension between the magical and the real is expressed through the interplay of rigid shapes and their gradual distortion. While irregularity runs through Lorena Cantó Woltèche’s design, additional distortion - applied using the software Touch Designer - infuses the drawing with energy, pulling the viewer into a state of musical trance. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\ CREATIVE CONNECTION Collaborating with Julia and Lorena offered a chance to visually interpret this music. Together, we created graphic scores for Magic Woman and Down Here, which now accompany a very limited run of clear vinyl. 🔗 in Bio. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\

MAGIC WOMAN, GRAPHIC SCORE Music - @eskaonline ESKA Graphic Design - @lcwiola Lorena Cantó Woltèche Music Analysis - @juliaowczarek.music Julia Owczarek \\\\\\\\\\\\\\ An album is a snapshot in time — a document of a body of work that can be explored in multiple ways. This is where my art practice comes to life. The album version of this project serves as a foundation for me to explore other creative responses to the music, from live performance to visual art, poetry, and beyond. It’s also an opportunity to engage with the work of other creatives and reengage with my music in new ways. Connection - something deeply important to my artistic practice and, more over, to my humanity. It is why this is a vinylfirst release before ALL of this soulful connection is reduced to 0001101010110100000... It’s not worthy of me to leave just an intangible, digital mark. Collaborating with Julia and Lorena offered a chance to visually interpret this music. Together, we created graphic scores for Magic Woman and Down Here, which now accompany a very limited run of clear vinyl. 🔗 in Bio. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The music bursts with passion and love. Its emotional depth and complexity emerge through intricate rhythmic textures and a dynamic interplay between irregular and regular meter. This layered structure served as the inspiration for Cantó Woltèche’s graphic score, evoking the rich, organic patterns of ebony wood. A visual coding process was employed to translate the music into imagery using sound-reactive software, TouchDesigner. The flowing shapes interacting with the circles allow for multiple interpretations. Initially, they primarily represent the vibrating sounds generated by the vocal effects and the buzz-ing accompaniment. The later addition of the coloured section introduces another dimension, resembling carved female figures, further enriching the visual and symbolic depth of the piece. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\ So, what is it that you see when you hear Magic Woman? How does it make you move? What memory does it evoke? What next? Because there is always more…music running through my veins. - ESKA

The first fruits of 2024 are already here. So happy to share the first of three Impromptus by Emilio Mateu. Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉❤️ Many thanks to Emilio Mateu for dedicating these pieces to me, @myriam.delcastillo for designing with such care and beauty the score that has accompanied me in these past years, the esteemed @palaumusicavlc for providing the García Navarro hall, and my dear father, @cantodura for recording, filming and producing. #2024 #newmusic #viola #violasolo #impromptu #emiliomateu #violamusic #recording #singlerelease #album #music

Sketch in four stages reflecting on the origins of the conservatoire culture. Although the man in gown represented is Bernard Sarrette, founder of the first conservatoire, it should have really been Luigi Cherubini, who invented entrance and final exams. In his great concern to maintain high standards in the institution, it is said in letters that he might have turned down Liszt...!! Should music education be based on this hierarchy of values? #sketch #drawing #pencil #pencildrawing #process #classicalmusic

The Useful Drawings Exhibition at the @eyetopencil in London is now on, and I am thrilled to be part of it! Today, I had the chance to visit my small artwork, displayed next to very inspiring artists.✨ My piece represents the Classical Music Industry of 2023. The existence of the BBC Singers and other British orchestras seem to be hanging by a thread. This vignette helped me question the situation. What will the future bring for musicians in the UK? Last day to visit the Exhibition is tomorrow! #usefuldrawings #classical music #eyetopencil

"Secret Garden" . . . The practice studio is often referenced in academic literature as the "secret garden". Taken from Burnett's famous book with the same name, it metaphors the practice space as a secure isolation, where transformation and personal growth can take place. Is this the kind of happy concealment culture that classical music education encourages? Reexamining the classical music culture & education. #musicpractice #classicalmusic #sketch #boldart #pencildrawing #musiceducation
