Congrats to all of our graduated students!! While we are sad to see our seniors leave, we cannot wait to see all the amazing things you’ll do next! In order to celebrate your successes here at Ohio State, we’ve decided to share some of your favorite SENR memories❤️
“It was so important for me to go abroad because I wanted to experience a new world. Italy’s culture emphasizes the pleasure of life, and I wanted to experience a slower lifestyle while still learning important concepts for school,” reflected Brielle Bomsta, an environmental policy and decision making major who participated in the Sant’Anna Institute Program in Sorrento, Italy this semester.
During the spring semester, Bomsta took classes in Italy and worked at a marine biology, conservation and communications internship, developing skills for her future career as well as broadening her cultural awareness 🇮🇹

If you have any questions about the program we did or just studying abroad in general please feel free to reach out to one of our emails (michel.216 hill.2801 radous.2)
"Getting to learn about the local flora and fauna was truly special. The melody of birds chirping, the cool breeze making its way through the pine woods on a bright sunny day, and being surrounded by wonderful people sharing their knowledge about the environment made this experience memorable" - Mrunal's favorite part of the hike.
A few weeks ago, students attended a hike to Walnut Woods, a collaboration between the School of Environment and Natural Resources and Time for Change Week at The Ohio State University. One student who attended is a Master's Student in Computer Science Engineering, Mrunal H. Mrunal is a nature lover and was fascinated by this opportunity. Attendees identified birds using the Merlin Bird ID app and observed local flora like Virginia spring beauty, Eastern Redbud, and hyacinths.
Mrunal mentioned "everyone brought insights from their own field, and the collaborative learning made the experience even more meaningful. [It was] a refreshing and worthwhile experience beyond the classroom".
Sometimes the simplest way to connect with the environment is to step outside and move through it. A short hike can shift your perspective, slow your pace, and remind you what is right in front of you. During Earth Week, we encourage you to go outside and enjoy a hike! Let us know in the comments where you like to go outside to take a hike.
Pictured here are photos from Mrunal of students attending the hike, using the Merlin app to identify birds spotted, and grassy area.
