Erin and Jerry Jones are former teachers turned bookstore owners. Seeing the need for a diverse bookstore in Wilmington, they opened The Roasted Bookery: A Bookstore Where Representation Matters. All their books are written by authors from marginalized populations. They also make sure that 80% of their books are $10 and under. The Ford Project is a high-energy Americana, rock, and country band fronted by the powerful, soulful vocals of Lorna “Ladyfinger” Ford. Through raw, uncompromising original songs, they tackle hard truths. The song, “Storms Pass” explores breaking the cycle of domestic violence. “The Lie” exposes the painful ripple effect of substance abuse, and “Mad Girl Bullshit” directly confronts systemic misogyny within the music industry. The Ford Project uses their platform for peace and protest.
