It's always humbling to be included in a list of such inspiring artmakers in Philly. We are proud to share that we are a 2025 Art and Culture Grantee! Thank you, @philaculturalfund 🐊
Producing new music is always a messy and unpredictable endeavor, but this support makes it possible for us to continue to ask questions and explore new possibilities. We can't wait to share our next project to you!

TONGUE RIVER MUSIC
Sunday, April 13th at 3pm
@theplasticclub
It's not an ENA hang if we don't have @chelsea.meynig on flute! Chelsea was instrumental (sorry) in writing this piece. She traveled to Wyoming to meet up with Evan and improvised with him up in the mountains, which led to the creation of TONGUE RIVER MUSIC! Don't miss it!

The Gryphon String Quartet is made up of violinists Natasha Colkett and Tess Varley, violist Hannah Nicholas, and cellist Justin Yoder. They debuted as a quartet in the summer of '24 at the Gryphon Cafe. They hold title positions with the Philadelphia Ballet, Opera Philadelphia, and Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and also perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Philadelphia theatre companies.

TONGUE RIVER MUSIC

🎟️ in bio!
TONGUE RIVER MUSIC is a piece about water, how it changes the world, and how our relationship to it changes. The river level being high enough to swim in as a kid becomes a crucial measure of economic anxiety as an adult. Long-form interviews with residents of Dayton, Ranchester, and Sheridan, Wyoming are mixed with field recordings and on-site improvisations to create a complex sonic text. This text, set to an ensemble of voice, flute, and string quartet, aims to confront a kind of lived political, economic, and climate anxiety through the cycles of snow, river, and drought.
We are so excited to premiere this piece by @evankassof at @theplasticclub 🤠
