The announcement of the Ontario Government legislation aimed at regulating talent agencies.
It would (hopefully) 1) standardize fees, and ban additional fees, 2) set a 10 business day payment window, 3) force performers money to be held in a separate bank account.
The work isn’t done, it still has to pass, and pass in a strong enough form to hold ppl accountable. Thank you to everyone who responded to the government survey, and who has pushed for this.
Here’s hoping it will have serious repercussions and a plan of action for remuneration if someone steals money.
