Unbelievably thankful to be featured as one of the artists in British Journal of Photography: Performance Issue @bjp1854
Since my teens I’ve loved photography for its healing properties and visibility (I’ve also always loved BJP, which is why this feels soooo wild)
Sometimes I feel powerful in being vulnerable and sometimes I don’t but consistently I find so much strength in using the camera as a point of connection and catharsis. It visualises beautiful and difficult moments and freezes them, giving you space and time to return to them and simply process
I’ve had the pleasure to work with so many wonderful women over the past few years, collectively framing a female experience and understanding what that means for us as a community - also, what that looks like moving forward
Thank you for featuring me in fantastic company and for such a considerate curation of images @marigoldwarner and thank you @madeleine.pollard for communicating my practice so gracefully
I’m feeling beyond excited to share what comes next〰️
A sneaky crop preview of what I’ve been working on as part of @the_tetley PANIC! Artist Bursary
Towards the end of this year, this new body of work will be showcased online by The Tetley alongside five other artist’s work.
For the past month I’ve been exploring the relationship we have with hostile architecture in public spaces through a range of choreographed and impromptu performances - if you feel a certain way about hostile architecture and design in your district, drop me a message or keep an eye out
Tomorrow's the day! I'll be celebrating the closing of my exhibition with a day of (free) making groups and gatherings, coinciding with international women's day weekend.
The day takes inspiration from the sessions which make up Divine Archives, opening up conversations on embodied and generational knowledge. Join us for a full day of creativity and conversation with no previous experience needed, just the energy to get stuck in and meet some lovely people.
As always, The Art House is welcoming everyone, though within the workshops we will be spotlighting creative contributions of those who identify as female. So bring along your mum, sister, grandma, pals - or come down to meet someone new.
Booking is suggested for some of the sessions - more information can be found within the link in @thearthouseuk bio.
A big thanks to my co-facilitators

Thank you for all the love on the exhibition so far, it's been a beautiful new chapter for me and opened up so many wonderful connections. Whether you're settling in for the day, or just dropping in for one of the sessions, I'll see you there💙
This weekend marks the final weekend of my show Divine Archives at @thearthouseuk and we're celebrating on Saturday 7th with an International Women's Day festival of togetherness and making - come down and join us!
@soph.knits_ is starting the day with a knitting social, before we drop-in to feminist zine making with @hannahbplatt , quilting with @lucy.quilts , self portraiture experiments with me, and finally a spoken word open mic.
Our spoken word gathering is a super relaxed end to the sessions offering space for women to share their favourite poems, extracts from literature, or original writings. So join us if you fancy spending some of your day with new and old friends drinking coffee or wine and feeling your cup is full - I'll be baking a cake!
Everything is free to attend, with some sessions requiring booking in advance and some drop-in. Links to book can be found via the link in @thearthouseuk bio.
As always, The Art House welcomes everyone but we will be spotlighting women's creative contributions through the events of the day.
See you there❤️
On the final Day of Emily Ryalls’ Divine Archives, we’re hosting a Spoken Word Open Mic, to give a welcoming space to women to share stories, poems, songs, and thoughts.
You’re invited to join in or just listen, surrounded by positive and uplifting energy. You can bring something you have written yourself, or your favourite piece of writing by another author, this doesn’t have to be original work. The session is rooted in care, solidarity, and shared experience and acts as a gentle closing moment to reflect on the exhibitions themes and celebrate the power of women’s voices in all their forms.

The celebrations don’t end there, as Vinyl Social will be hosting an after party with a ladies night on the decks!
Also open this day will be the Wakefield Reclaim the Night Exhibition, displaying banners and footage from the 2025 Reclaim the Night march, celebrating collective action, solidarity and the ongoing fight for safer streets. The project honours both the energy of the night itself and its lasting legacy, and offers opportunities to learn more about how to support work to end violence against women and girls.
