Hello! ⭐️🦢🌈🫶🧡🏠🫧 So many new people, so I thought I’d re-introduce myself. I’m Em, I’m 26, and I live on Whadjuk Noongar Country. I simply cannot bear the concept of running separate instagrams for writing and pottery and other things so it’s all smushed together here like a big ball of clay, hope that’s okay with you! I’d love if you wanted to share a bit about you and what you do in the comments, too.

A few slow days on Wadjemup, spotting Kwilena (dolphins) and getting @secondairy98 to fix the chain on my bike because I didn’t know how. 🌬️ I had been to Wadjemup once before, about 8 years ago for the day. Since then I have learnt about the history of the island, the Noongar connection to the place across the water, and the harm that has been caused there to First Nations Men and Boys. I recognise it is a place to tread lightly, show respect, acknowledge the truth and history of Wadjemup, and be mindful.

So exciting to see the Varuna @nationalwritershouse trans and gender diverse fellowship be announced and see six amazing writers awarded today! Congratulations, I look forward to reading the work you all produce on your residencies. This is such an important prize, and I look forward to seeing it continue long into the future.🏳️‍⚧️ An unexpected joy was finding out I was named alongside five other writers that had made the shortlist and were highly commended by the judges. Thank you to @kaya.wilson and Candace Bell for the nod. I am coming into the final stages of drafting my novel (working title: Homemaker), a queer novel about the housing crisis and rogue ways of combatting it. I have had a thoroughly joyful time writing it, but these glimmers of feedback and encouragement from Varuna’s highly commended and being long listed for the Richell Prize last year have been very sustaining. I cannot wait to show you all this book. 🌈🏠🧰🪜⭐️

Had a blast helping out at @slowmademarket today! ✏️🌈⭐️😩 I had my favourite task which as making fun silly videos for @oggiestudio , I had my fun little cap camera rig on (NOT meta glasses and I have everyone’s consent to film them!) so I could take you all around the market! Plz enjoy my running commentary (lol) Slowmade is such a special event for local makers and artists, hope to see you at the next one! Bingo diaries! ⭐️ Making good progress on the 2026 bingo card, especially in my trade with @banjo_tatts ! I traded some to-go coffee cups and a ring dish sconce in return for this beautiful comb tattoo. Such a lovely time, and can’t wait to get more pieces with such a talented artist!

Olives for @abood._.abdallah 🫒 Olives are a powerful symbol in Palestinian culture, of peace and of connection and rootedness to land. In the occupied West Bank, there is an olive tree that is estimated to be 5000 years old. I make olive ceramics, and the proceeds go to my friend Abood, a young man in Gaza who is trying to survive and rebuild his life and complete his education. When you buy an olive ceramic from me, all of the proceeds go to Abood. Currently available: 6x Olive Fridge Magnets - $10 each, Perth pick up preferred (update - sold out!!) 🫒 CUSTOMS 🫒 Want a custom Olive piece from me? I have a limited number of spots to make you whatever you like in return for funds to share with Abood. Some ideas, a clock, a vase, an olive dish like the one pictured (SOLD), a big vase that looks like an olive? Please message me and we can discuss.

Just over a month of @arteryzine issue 3 being out in the world 🫧 In the lead up to TDOV, my piece is a love letter to all the people I saw myself in before I could put words to what I was seeing, people who showed me a future I wanted was out there. Very grateful to the Artery team for all the care that went into this collection.
