Shoot prep ❤️ It’s all in the details…
I read recently that one of the reasons AI will never truly replace human creativity is that a computer cannot develop true taste.
Sure, it can replicate a style, but nothing will come close to the lived experience of traveling to different places, sifting through bins at a thrift store, watching old films, going to museums, immersing yourself in culture, finding the items you’re drawn to, asking yourself why you’re drawn to them, and refining your palette as you go.
Now more than ever, there’s such an emphasis on the importance of building a personal brand, and I’ve been ruminating a lot on what that means. To distill it into very simple terms, I’ve found it all comes down to taste.
Think about it. You could probably walk through a store and pick out exactly which pieces your favorite artist would wear. What items would live comfortably in the universe they’ve built around themselves — even if you can’t exactly put your finger on *why.* The secret lies in a point of view that is so strong, the world rearranges itself around it. Honing a perspective that is so undeniably YOU, that the curation happens naturally. Thoughts?
It’s easy to feel helpless when there’s so much sadness in the world. Our feeds are flooded with horrible images, with so much evil, starvation, unthinkable acts of violence. How do we stay informed and not let it immobilize us? How do we stay informed, AND stay soft, open, and loving?
I don’t claim to have the answers, but something that has worked for me is writing. Alchemizing that pain and suffering and molding it into something beautiful. Sharing it with the world, and finding like-minded souls who resonate.
Another is volunteering in my local community.
There are so many atrocities in the world that seem so close, yet so far away. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is tend to our own backyard. Find a cause you care about — whether that’s animals, senior citizens, the environment — and pour some time and energy into doing what you can, even if it’s lending a couple hours of your time. My favorite place to volunteer in LA is @theshowerofhope , which provides hygiene services for the unhoused community. But find something that lights YOU up. You’ll soon become addicted to the kindness and warmth you find in these small actions.

the last 10 years have been full of ups, downs, and deliciously random lore. I wouldn’t trade this wild life for a thing! what do you guys wanna see more of / dive deeper into!?
**This is absolutely no shade to women in their 20s or younger.
My point is: a woman’s experience at ANY age — 20s, 30s, 60s, 70s, etc — is valid, unique, and special. In ancient times, women sat around fires and listened to stories from their elders. Now, we seem to discard women’s voices the second we deem them “past their prime.”
I wrote this song as almost a soothing lullaby to myself. I was feeling so much pressure to make the “right” choices for my future. To hit certain milestones. To measure my life in comparison to others. Then, I learned a fact that shifted my perspective: that if you live til 80 years old, you will have lived 4000 weeks. Suddenly, it all seemed so short and fleeting. My problems and worries seemed so insignificant and small. I felt comforted by the fact that there was no wrong or right path — the only path I could take was my very own.
A very special teacher in my life @johnnyocallaghan often reminds me, “we are all just walking each other home.” At the very end, all we have is each other. All that’s left is love.
