A dream I’ve had for many many years
finally became something
I had the courage to act on
Thank you, miss Yuti

and for giving me that extra push
Also, thank you to my friends & everyone who stopped by and to bring my art home with you

Garden Of the Resemblances by Phoebe Hui @oilstreetartspace
Inspired by the Western concept of the Doctrine of Signatures in the 16th-century.
The exhibition feels like a journey of healing & imagination - a ginseng root that breaths, an onion with eyes and a pomegranate with teeth.
The Onion Eye Family, takes its cue from Giambattista della Porta’s 1588 woodcut book Phytognomonica.
The artist connects flower bulbs with human eyes, and as the eyes open and close, lights shift and change — a metaphor for the world waking up and coming into being.
One of the current exhibitions I really like🫴 Art of Gifting: The Fuyun Xuan Collection of Chinese Snuff Bottles
10. The painting with a Chinese man & woman from the other exhibition shows how Western artists perceived and depicted Chinese people in 18-19 century.
11-12. Some funny faces & details of the paintings
One of the highlights of our trip is getting to meet Alex Summers, who runs a little studio called "PAINTINGS" with the other local artists which is situated close to the pier.
It was an honour for me to speak to such an amazing artist and listen to his inspiring stories, who inspired me to open up and not to be a dreamer.
Alex's works are mostly landscape paintings. He produced his drawings from life and depicted the scenes on his travels.
