Very excited to share that my new exhibition, ‘Souvenirs’, opens Friday 15 May, 18:30 – 20:00 at Montcalm Royal London House After many days and nights in darkrooms, I am so thrilled to see this work out in the world - thank you endlessly to everyone at @riseart and @montcalm_collection for your amazing support in seeing this body of work come to life, and for organising, curating and hosting the show The images were all handprinted either in my home studio darkroom or at the wonderful @stillsedinburgh in Scotland, and are each paired with a corresponding text “Souvenirs is a series of photographic reconstructions of hotel rooms, restaged in domestic or familiar settings. Within this slippage between experience and recollection, the works unfold as a conceptual documentation of remembered details - textures, colours, objects - translated into new images, foregrounding the fluid and unreliable nature of memory.” RSVP at the link in bio — free entry Montcalm Royal London House, 22-25 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1DX

Join Peer Matters this Sunday 17 May for our workshop, Suggestions for Gathering, from 11am – 1pm as part of the events programme by @photoworks_uk x @peckham24photo “In this workshop, participants will share and respond to one another’s images, engage with a series of creative prompts, and reflect on how they each gather and sustain elements within their practice – whether sparks, materials, ideas, relationships, or methods of making that are evolving slowly, remaining in the background, or acting as constant anchors. By the end of the workshop, the group will have produced a collaborative outcome.” The workshop will be run by @evalouisaj @siddkhajuria @margotmtmt @alexandra.davenport and myself Sign up via link in bio by midnight tonight We will also be at A Bigger Book Fair selling books, prints and imagery and words all weekend - come find us! Rise Art presents Souvenirs, a photographic exhibition by Emile Kees hosted at Montcalm Royal London House, exploring how memory shapes our experience of place.   Souvenirs is a series of photographic reconstructions of hotel rooms, restaged in domestic or familiar settings. Within this slippage between experience and recollection, the works unfold as a conceptual documentation of remembered details - textures, colours, objects - translated into new images, foregrounding the fluid and unreliable nature of memory.   A selection of works has been created in situ at Montcalm Royal London House, alongside pieces drawn from the artist’s travels over the past eleven years.   Opening Reception + Artist Gathering 15th May 2026 18:30 - 20:00 Montcalm Royal London House, 22–25 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1DX   Reserve your spot via the link in bio. Happy to announce that this June I will be teaching an online class with @strudelmedialive — ‘The Plasticity of Memory: Creating New Work from Your Personal Archives’. In this class, we will explore how archival materials can inform your practice, using found or inherited images as prompts to investigate the roots of your motivation as a photographer. Through weekly conversations and critiques, we will develop ideas together in a supportive and creative group environment. Wherever you are in the world, if you’re interested in joining then find the link in my bio or head to @strudelmedialive to sign up 🗂️📸

What does it mean to „make“ a home?” For photographer, Emile Kees, the answer lies in the grit of the darkroom and the „handmade“ environment of his youth. Raised in a mobile home while his family physically built their residence, Kees’s work explores the intersection of domestic labour and the malleability of memory. In our latest reflective piece for neun Magazine, we dive into Kees’s Edinburgh darkroom - a sanctuary where „all sense of time just leaves.“ From his poignant archives of his father’s sculptures to his „coping mechanism“ - photography during years of caregiving - Kees reminds us that the most profound art often hides in the quiet, invisible effort of showing up. Looking forward to taking part in @fruitmarketgallery Artists’ Bookmarket this weekend with Peer Matters, where we will be selling prints, books and other printed matter alongside many wonderful artists, publishers and facilitators — come by if you’re in Edinburgh! We will also be running a workshop, ‘Process, slowness and mistakes’, at 13:45 on saturday 14 — “Artists, writers and cultural practitioners are invited to reflect on how we continue to make work, collaborate and research whilst also ‘doing’ life, and the role of book making within this process. You will create a simple folded book that captures shared reflections, fragments and questions from the session.” (Bookable now via the fruitmarket gallery’s website) Peer Matters artists ~ @margotmtmt @evalouisaj @pollypalmerini @chiara.zandona @siddkhajuria @annasellenphotography @alexandra.davenport @ezra.evans_ @georgina.mcnamara.18 @velvia25 @emilekees @philhillphoto @edsykes @seb.f.mahon #abm26
