Sideboard commission made from Roasted Ash, with handwoven paper yarn screens made by Christine at @nichetextilestudio
Love the simplicity of the sliding doors, wooden shoulders located into wooden grooves sliding effortlessly with a bit of wax.

I have some new handcarved mirrors made from native miro river wood on my shop. I’m happy to include a new carving style called Branch in this run.
The timber is salvaged from logs that have been submerged in rivers in Northland. Over time, the wood absorbs natural minerals from the riverbed, creating a really beautiful dark richness to these frames.
Back home from a quick trip to Wanganui to celebrate @jadetownsend ’s solo show at the Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery. Love to see her shining so bright and to have contributed my carved framing to her beautiful paintings.
Hand carved sapele framing, cut from the same piece of sapele timber 🤎
Sapele and linoleum desk for the office.
Instead of using plywood I made some shiplapped sapele strips to build up the frame. The edge profile references Dutch Barn roof shapes.
This table is part of the unfinished office space at the workshop, which is a project in collaboration with @hatch_workshop
I’ve just finished up a new run of Paper Roll Holders in Roasted Ash, we love using ours in the bathroom and kitchen at home.
This is the last top up of these I will be making this year. They are up on my shop and I post worldwide. 🤎🧻
A new Paper Roll Holder in two sizes for toilet paper and kitchen paper in chestnut wood.
Both have the same drop-in dowel mechanism, which works really well and is easy to swap out rolls.
This initial run is in beautiful chestnut - a wood not commonly available Aotearoa.
Chestnut dowel turned locally, all made here in Aotearoa 🤎
Limited numbers now available on my shop 🌰
I love round tables, we use one as our dining table in our small kitchen at home. I like how they can accommodate many people around them when you need it, but are also small and intimate working well in little spaces.
I’m happy to offer a round Moon table. This one is made in solid cherry with a hand carved edge.
This table will be available through @seasonaotearoa at the @aotearoaartfair this weekend 🤎
It feels quite nice to run your fingers along its edge - I’d recommend that if you see it in person!
I will also be offering a carved and a non carved edge version, and a darker sapele option on my shop or you can message me.
Some new things recently made for @klay_nz - a Coffee Filter Paper Holder and a Book Rack.
These pieces were made from Roasted Ash and designed by Klay. Roasted Ash is thermally modified which darkens it to a lovely warm chocolatey colour, and enhances its stability and durability.
I’ve worked with Klay over the years on different interior projects, but this is the first time I’ve made pieces for sale for their online shop. I love working with them, and they’ve generously shared some of their design process and more details in a blog post on their website 🤎
Emile Drescher was born in Upstate New York in 1991. He moved to Aotearoa, New Zealand in 1996 and runs a small wood workshop in West Auckland.
His ‘Offering Shelf’, made from roasted oak with a hand carved front edge, is a piece that speaks to the practice of intentional placement—for sacred objects, personal artifacts, and everyday use.
For AMO’s Radical Hope, it serves as the perfect perch for the slow, curling ascent of Shoyeido incense.
