People often ask me: Why do you love About Cinema so much? There are many obvious reasons. It’s a unique format that didn’t exist before, and it gives us incredible creative freedom. Each episode dives into a completely different genre, demanding a fresh approach every time. All of that is true. But for me, there’s also a deeply personal reason! This show came at a tough time in my life. I had lost interest in political documentaries, was seriously considering quitting my job, maybe even thinking about immigration!! I took a long break and went to New York to study screenwriting. Then About Cinema happened, and it literally opened up a new life for me. It marked my shift from documentaries to cinema. I became obsessed with the craft, and made a decision to walk away from the political world that had drained me. And through this show, I found new friends, some of the closest to my heart today. Over the past two years, I’ve worked on many other projects but About Cinema shaped me the most. It made me better. Now, as Season 4 nears its end, I have to thank the person who made this season what it is. @jamalelshayyal who believed in the show, pushed it to be the best of all seasons, took a risk, and won. Thanks also to @ritta.khan my awesome friend, and Abood & Azzam, whose work became real friendship. To @ahmet_elmasry who gave this season his all. To @hussamalgazzar who directed most episodes and elevated the entire season. To our production warriors @roniferdialaboga @burak_kanisicak @shamselsawaff @__omarismail and @almowhed To the post production team, @samraspalette who led post-production and colored every episode. @worldwidewaleed @stratd0 @saleh__hamze @ahmetmsrli @ahmed_naiem_neo @noahserry and of course @tahaammar.vfx our VFX supervisor for 7 episodes who went above and beyond in every way. No words can thank you all enough. More than 100 people worked on season 4 to make it what it is. I’m deeply proud to be the creator of this show. I’ve had the joy of directing many of its episodes, writing some, and producing every single one. It’s more than just a show to me… it’s a new beginning.

So proud to be the executive producer of Khayal Amjad and the writer of the last episode 📝❤️ This project is so close to my heart, a unique musical that touches on real social issues we face in the Arab world. Big thanks to @jamalelshayyal , head of @aljazeera360 , for believing in this from day one 🙏 And to my amazing colleagues @amirazahrai and @noahserry who literally worked around the clock to make it happen 🙌 Of course, our star @amjadalnour the mastermind behind the idea 🎭 Shoutout to @ahmet_elmasry from Improvision for bringing the whole thing to life, and the creative genius @hussamalgazzar for the stunning direction 🎥 There are so many more people I wish I could thank, but honestly the list is endless 💛 Once again, Al Jazeera 360 is showing it’s not afraid to bring something fresh to Arab media ✨🎬

They say food is a language, but in Turkey, I discovered it’s actually a survival guide. As the writer and director of “Stories on a Plate” , I traveled through three distinct worlds: Kars, Mardin, and Istanbul. We captured the resilience of Kars in sub-zero temperatures , the irony of filming Mardin’s “stored sunlight” while the winter cold chilled us to the bone , and the vibrant pulse of Istanbul’s street and Michelin-starred flavors. Directing in these conditions was a physical and creative challenge made possible only by a crew that braved the wind and frost with me. 2013 ➜ 2025 Same trio, same glow… just better phones. Twelve years, countless stories, endless work, and laughter that never aged. From dreaming on sidewalks to creating on sets, the friendship stayed the same, the passion only grew. Welcome back, Hayat… from The Global Sumud Flotilla and the prisons of injustice, with the same unbroken spirit.

Why do directors love working with @abood_afro ? It’s not just because he’s an amazing professional actor… he’s also a pro at choreographing fight and action scenes, thanks to years of martial arts experience. This scene, for example, was entirely his choreography, which made my job as a director so much easier. On a show like @aboutcinema , where we don’t have the luxury of stunt doubles or massive action crews, his skills helped us pull off something truly cinematic.

Directing Movies Difficult to Understand was like playing with a giant cinematic puzzle, every scene more tangled than the last, and I loved every second of it. 🎬 It’s our little salute to the mind-bending greats like The Matrix and Donnie Darko, the kind of films that make you question everything and then hit replay. From complicated setups to moments that made us all go “wait… what?”, this episode was a playground for chaos and creativity. Huge thanks to the crew for making it all click together… General supervisor @jamalelshayyal Written by @hossam_afara @wegabyte Research supervisor Ahmad Abdelmeged DOP @ercanender AD team: @yabi_kara @gina_albiek @sevallsener @talhacoskunp @ibrahiimarafa Executive producers @improvision_production @ahmet_elmasry @roniferdialaboga Senior producer @shamselsawaff Producer @__omarismail Line producers @dilekecegy @burak_kanisicak Art director @sehergurbey Stylist @elifitita Stylist assistants: @gizemarsu @gulce_bilgin Editor and post producer @saleh__hamze VFX supervisor @tahaammar.vfx VFX supervisor on-set @noahserry Colorist @samraspalette Sound designer and music composer @worldwidewaleed and so many other talented people who brought this to life 🙌 #cinema #aboutcinema
