Celebrating Dad’s new documentary, “I’m Chevy Chase, and You’re Not!” 🥰 There are plenty of tough moments in this film, as there would be for any subject who’s been in the public eye for the last ~50 years, but it’s beautifully done and captures the essence of @chevychase in more ways than one. What remains most important is that WE know him better than anyone ever will, and the truth is, Dad is loving, generous, warm, and authentic to a fault. He is complex and brilliant and genuinely well-meaning. He and @jaynichase raised us to be good human beings who care about others and the world, treat everyone with kindness, and know that we are no better or more important than anyone else. Chaplin. My baby boy, my first cat. The second he curled his paws around my shoulder I knew he was coming home with us. I hadn’t set out to get a cat that day, let alone the weirdest little mustached dude I’d ever seen. But he was immediately mine. Chappy filled our lives with so much joy. He would have turned 17 in just a few weeks, but his girl Twiggy called him home so they could be together again. They lived with me at my apartment on 110th St. until I decided to move to Aspen in 2014, at which point I knew they’d be happier living at my parents’ house full time, where there was space to run (and pee on all the furniture, in Chap’s case). Chaplin will always be my perfect boy. I love him so much and miss him terribly already. Everyone who met him loved and remembered him. I’m pretty sure he turned several into cat people. I will miss his wrinkly forehead, his hilariously awkward gait when he runs, his clumsiness, his purrs, his snuggles under blankets, and his little ingrown pinky nail. He was the softest kitty in the world. ❤️❤️❤️
