A couple days down river with Miles and Shandy. Looking for some winter fish along the way.

Getting a lot more of my film scanned or rescanned in lately . I kept coming back to these images that were shot before, during and after COVID , remember that ? Yeah me neither . Anyways, these images are some of my favorites during those times for a number of reasons but mainly for their ability to act as a mile marker to times and trips that I hope not to forget .
1. Beamer arrived to hang at our house after getting a new bike and always looking cooler than you .
2. Tuck and Geoff at Geoff’s studio right at the start of the pandemic.
3 and 4 . Blake and Greg , endless surfs and time spent looking at surf at these life guard towers.
5. Geoff riding into an Eastern Sierra Sunset .
A couple weeks ago I got to take @elyphillips and @mileshmarquez down the river. I love how full circles present themselves in life…and I ESPECIALLY love #firsttimes because let’s face it, the older you get the more experiences you have under your belt. @elyphillips is a killer photographer who dabbles in portrait style photography…think tri-pod, slide film, upside down subject in view finder, the black fabric over your head to see said subject and the push button to do the magic thing🪄 All we were missing is a bright flash and smoke 💨
He allowed me to capture him on the river. I love it. I love how it turned out and what it represents. Most of all I love the non-instant gratification that is clouding and morphing all of us along with our insecurities. The fact that maybe the shot worked and maybe it didn’t? Nothing instant…not even the Polaroid camera that he also had with him😆

Western Juniper in the Crooked River Grasslands. It's been an incredibly dry winter so far with little snow in the mountains throughout the west. What we see in our trees I feel we will see in rivers later. Each mature Juniper can use up to 5000 gallons of water in a year.

A New Year and I hope we're all on paths that leads us outside more often. Grateful for all of the collaborations with friends old and new , and the wild places we went.
