It gives my country mouse heart so much joy to come back to New York and pretend I’m tough for a few days! (Hence the picture that has the “Ayyyyyy, I’m walkin here!” energy).
It also brings so much joy to share this show with friends and family, old and new! The last show I played at Berried Seed the sweethearts there made me felt like I had never left home! For a cozy DIY time (but with a bangin’ sound system) come on down to Bed-Stuy and join us for a night a songs!

Joining us is the incredible @cam__gilmour whose expansive work on his last two albums has been filling my springtime with inspiration and excitement! He is just as adept at crafting all encompassing sonic emotions as he is at inviting you into the poetry of his intimate songwriting. The music is a gift and I’m so excited to share in it!

when i moved to milwaukee, adam became one of my first friends, which i consider lucky af. i could go on (and might at some point) about how much i learned about this city and my place in it, through meeting him.
fast forward 12 years later and we're still going strong, still exploring spaces and our place in them. i sent adam a demo of 𝔸𝕞𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝔻𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕞 and he happened to be on an amtrack crossing the very country i was writing about. as a byproduct of his collecting footage for the sake of distraction, we got this video. the full vid lives on youtube.
𝔸𝕞𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝔻𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕞 happened on a New Year’s Day. Trump was in office (first term) and I was jumping in Lake Michigan with the other dopamine freaks. Who knows why ideas smash together when they do, but it happens that way sometimes.
To me, this song is a reflection on the deception of being raised in the United States of America. Being taught there is history instead of histories. Coexisting with the harm caused by Christian Nationalism, Capitalism and Patriarchy, just to name a few. Wouldn’t have predicted the Trump Jesus AI Tweet, but therein lies the point. There are more poetic ways to say it, but fucking no.
And apart from that, I do hold onto a deep sense of hope. I want us to exist fully and beautifully and with everything we need to be human without having to fight for crumbs when we each deserve a full meal. And *I’m* supposed to believe in the American Dream? I will not. I can’t.

a year ago, we started recording what has become the album ‘stay soft’ and a bonus EP at @parlorhotel as part of @theparcdepartment artist residency.
for a week in march 2025, we created and inhabited a world built on 16 songs, about a dozen people, fresh bakery, migrating sandhill cranes, many costumes, the fox river, unseasonably warm weather, a brief respite from reality and one of the most nurturing communities i’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.
most pics in this post are from that time & a few are from two weeks ago when i went back up to focus on creating a plan for releasing the album which is slated to come out in october 2026.
the thing about this residency is that @theparcdepartment didn’t just give me a space for a week to do a thing, they are supporting me through the duration of the entire project. i want you know spaces like this exist and that we’re all better for it.
a lot has come together over the last few months and while i do *love* counting my chickens before they hatch, i’m gonna keep most eggs in the nest until i can show you everything: the music, videos, photos, merch, meals, tours. To folks who donated to the campaign or preordered stuff, keep your eyes peeled.
