On Black Friday 2019, I entered my first climbing gym looking for an alternative exercise. Thirty years of competitive sports and sixteen years of full-time personal training had left me burnt out with my own fitness and the sign outside said this would be different. My employer hated climbing and climbers and wasn't bashful about making that known. So, I left to start my own company, Elite Performance Climbing. We help everyone from the weekend crusher to Olympic Team Member, Piper Kelly. It's absurdly rewarding and never feels like work...except during "Send Season" when all I want to do is be in the embrace of the Red and its siren song. But even then, I'm satiated by the stories my athletes share about their accomplishments on projects or applying tools we've developed together!
