Happy Earth Day! 🌏 “the 4th (Spiral Jetty)” is on view in “Blush,” a group exhibition presented by Night Gallery at Christie’s SF. On view until May 9th! 🔥🌀🎇 repost from @nightgallery : Elise Rasmussen captures sites of creativity, preservation, climate emergency, and imperialist violence. During a recent road trip, Rasmussen hit iconic “photo-ops” such as the Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone Park and Robert Smithson’s famed land artwork Spiral Jetty on the shore of Utah’s Great Salt Lake. These sites are so frequently photographed that they are seared into the “American” consciousness, but Rasmussen expertly presents them from new vantages. - Cat Kron 1-2: Elise Rasmussen, “the 4th (Spiral Jetty),” 2024, archival pigment print, walnut frame, 60 x 48 in. 3-4: “Blush,” installation view, 2026. A few pics from my 12 days in NZ… I saw so much beauty, hiked, biked, swam, spa-ed, via Ferrata-ed, saw baby seals, lots of sheep (and was sold many sheepskins), drank many beers, ate 2 too many pies, learned a lot about Nadia Lim, cabinet food, togs… and got upgraded to delta one! Also had the best tour guides and travel companions @caroline_larsen___ , Oliver and the Sayes famiy… here’s to another adventure! Daniwah 🍻

“Hopefully people can appreciate the aesthetic aspects of the work, but also… it can unfold on deeper and more meaningful levels.” – Elise Rasmussen This week, Kendra sits down with Whyte Museum curator Christina Cuthbertson and artist Elise Rasmussen to explore how art can shift the way we see winter. Elise shares that while her work draws viewers in through beauty, it’s the deeper layers of the stories, histories, and moments of reflection that keep them looking. Guided by curiosity and research, Elise’s lens-based practice uncovers what’s often overlooked: the subtle changes in light, the memories held in a landscape, and the ways the mountains shape our imagination. With Christina adding insight into the cultural significance preserved within the museum, their conversation invites us to think about art not just as something we view, but something we experience. Elise’s exhibition An Alpine Trilogy is now on at the Whyte Museum, and you can dive even deeper into the stories behind the work through their daily tours, included with the cost of admission. Tune in now by hitting the link in our bio!

“As an artist who works with lens-based mediums, I’m always looking and searching out the light.” — Elise Rasmussen This week, Kendra sits down with Whyte Museum curator Christina Cuthbertson and artist Elise Rasmussen to explore the relationship between art and the alpine, and how winter’s sharp blues, dramatic shadows, and luminous skies inspire new ways of seeing.
