Say hi to Josh everyone! ”Josh Becker @mybucketsgottaholeinit is an action sports photographer based in Santa Cruz, California. His passion for photography began in the high school darkroom, developing skateboard photos of friends shot on his father’s old Canon A1 35mm camera. That early start shaped a photographic style defined by raw, honest, and often journalistic storytelling. He creates stories that never stand still. Fueled by a love for adventure, Josh doesn’t just document experiences, he actively participates in them. Being immersed in the moment allows him to capture imagery that is authentic, energetic, intimate, and deeply human, giving viewers a chance to relive the experience alongside the people in front of his lens. Portrait of @thejeffbridges photographed in Toronto in 2009. Working with Jeff was an incredible opportunity, especially as I started my journey into portraiture. I won’t lie, I was super intimidated at first but as I’ve learned over the years these sessions move super fast so you have no time to worry or have any fears. One thing I wish I knew then, was that you could be personable with your subjects. I think I would have been more calm and had more fun if at the time I knew we both shared a passion for photography. Which one is your favorite? ❤️ This is the second look I created during my creative portrait workshop for @photoprofessionals.ch in Switzerland the other week ✨ Not the most comfortable outfit and definitely a little tricky to walk around in… but sooo pretty 🥰😅🙈 The styling is made entirely from honeycomb packaging material and sticky tape 🤍 Lighting setup was an Elinchrom Five with a black/silver deep umbrella, combined with a pair of Elinchrom Ones with gels for the colored smoke shots. Simple setup, but super effective 👌🏼 Captured with my favorite studio partner, the Nikon Z8 + the new 24–70mm f/2.8 ❤️ Never lets me down 🫶🏼 Now I only have one problem… 🤔 I can’t choose a favorite! The flash exposure was built using @elinchrom_ltd lights — a high-efficiency reflector with a blue gel as the key, and two grid reflectors in the background with yellow gels. As the shutter stayed open, I swung the camera left, allowing the 2 modeling lamps with magenta gels to burn in the ghosted image on the right. #portraitphotography #studiolighting #lightingworkshop

Leez Priory and I go way back… I first shot there in 1998 as a freshed-faced youth willing to learn! This place STILL makes me go ‘WOW’ as a drive through the gates to drop my stuff in rather than make the 15 mile trip from the car park. Natural light, with a kiss of off-camera flash as it was a bit dark :)
