La pasamos increíble en Ausgang Plaza y estamos emocionados por traerles mas salsa este año Gracias a @tumbaomtl por traer la salsa en pasta mas pesada de este lado del mundo. Nadie tiene la coleccion de tumbao y estamos agradecidos de estar colaborando con gente que ama la salsa como nosotros y gracias a @marzos_officiel por habérsele medido a hacer este evento con nosotros. @teo.etc y yo empezamos la murga cuando yo tenia 18 y era mi primera vez dirigiendo una banda profesional. El proceso de convertirme en un director de orquesta ha sido arduo y no lo hubiera podido hacer sin la ayuda de mis amigos y mentores y todo el que ha tocado con nosotros durante este año y medio En medio de la incertidumbre politica y economica que atraviesa nuestro continente, sigamos trayendo la salsa al frente de la escena artistica en Montreal como lo hicimos el sábado. Y gracias a mi padre por haberme enseñado la buena salsa desde que estaba niño. ~~~ Eternally grateful for everyone who’s been supporting La Murga over the last year and a half. We had an incredible time at Ausgang and we’re excited to bring you more music this year. Thank you tumbao for bringing the sauce everytime, no one has the vinyl collection you guys have and we’re so grateful to be surrounded by people who love salsa and afrolatin music as much as us. Special thanks to Marzo’s Band for organizing the event with us Me and Teo formed La Murga when I was 18 and it was my first time ever leading a professional band. The process of learning how to be a bandleader has been arduous and I wouldn’t be able to do it with the support of my incredible friends and mentors, as well as everyone who has been part of the band over the last few years. Guaguancó Libre I wrote this tune a while back for saxophone quartet and recorded it shortly after for a class. I came up with the changes and @paymonvegh helped me get this arrangement on its feet. Initially I wanted it to represent my time in Montreal learning jazz, a very fast-paced and thrilling experience thus far. When I came back to Colombia to play my first show as a band leader, I wanted to play the original fast swing arrangement, but figured that it would be more fitting if I actually played it as a true guaguancó tune. Inicialmente quería que la pieza representara mi tiempo en Montreal aprendiendo el jazz. Cuando volví a Colombia para montar un show como director quería tocar el arreglo original pero decidimos junto a la banda tocarlo como un Guaguancó, haciéndole justicia al nombre El primer slide es el show en Colombia, el segundo es la grabación del tema en Concordia University. Las dos tomas del tema grabado en Concordia sale este viernes en mi Bandcamp
