The Endeleo Institute, alongside its project collaborators, is helping shape the future of the 95th Street Corridor through culture, storytelling, and community-driven design. As part of the 95th Street Corridor Renaissance, this initiative centers the preservation and amplification of Black culture across Lilydale, West Chesterfield, and the broader South Side—honoring history while shaping a shared vision for what’s next. Through murals, curated signage, digital storytelling, and community events, the project reflects both the legacy and the lived experiences of the communities it represents. Dually funded by Elevated Chicago and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), this work brings together local artists, Chicago State University’s Art Department, and the 95th St. Corridor Community Table to co-create a vibrant, community-rooted future.   @theendeleoinstitute @chicagocta @macfound   #ETOD #CreativePlacekeeping #SouthSideChicago #CommunityDevelopment #PublicArt

What if your daily commute sounded like jazz? The Red Line Jazz Project is bringing live music to Chicago’s transit system—transforming ordinary moments into unforgettable cultural experiences. Produced by Mandala South Asian Performing Arts, this series activates Red Line stations with live jazz, global rhythms, and spontaneous connection. Starting May 21st at Howard station, follow the sound across the city as musicians turn transit into a living stage—leading up to a final performance at the Harris Theater this October. 🎶 Catch the rhythm. 🚆 Ride the line. ✨ Be part of the moment. @mandalaartschi @chicagocta @macfound #RedLineJazzProject #MandalaArts #JazzInChicago #TransitCulture #CreativeChicago

We’re excited to celebrate the 13 Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (ETOD) Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects recently awarded by the Chicago Department of Housing (@chicagodoh ) advancing access, affordability, and opportunity.
LIHTC is a critical tool to support affordable housing development, and by aligning housing with transit, these developments help connect residents to jobs, services, and stronger communities where it matters most.     #ETOD #AffordableHousing #LIHTC

🎉 Belated celebration! We’re elated to welcome The Renaissance Collaborative (@trcwabash ) to Elevated Chicago’s Steering Committee!    For over 30 years, TRC has been a community hub in Bronzeville, providing affordable housing and maximizing the quality of life for homeless adults and seniors with wraparound support. Their experience and expertise as a community-based affordable housing developer will strengthen our collective work to advance equitable transit-oriented development (#ETOD) in Chicago.     TRC will be represented by Executive Director Oji Eggleston. Oji has been a strong partner as an Elevated Works developer, public speaker, and ETOD advocate. Transit was everything for Oji growing up, helping him get to the grocery store, work, and the comic bookstore as a kid and taking it to the YMCA where he played sports and made friends that he’s kept to this day. He believes exposure is critical and that transit and ETOD bring opportunities and resources to TRC’s residents and community members.      Welcome Oji and TRC! Together, we’re creating housing that offers access and opportunities for all.

Check out @chicagodpd ’s new educational resources (including videos in English and Spanish) for residents interested in learning more about development and advocating for their neighborhood’s future.   Research clearly shows that new housing development tends to stabilize housing costs for everyone, regardless of income, and the total number of households in Chicago is growing, creating a need for more units. Moreover, neighborhoods with more housing diversity have better social and economic outcomes for all residents and are more resilient in economic downturns. And neighborhoods with many types of housing are able to accommodate residents through all phases of life, keeping them connected to their community.  Watch the videos and download their discussion worksheets and coloring book at chicago.gov/dpdresources or click the link in our bio.

We’re investing billions in transit—so why are we building Amazon warehouses next to train stations?    The Orange Line deserves housing, local jobs, and vibrant neighborhood spaces. Read more in our op-ed with Dixon Galvez-Searle of @swcollectivechi . Click the link in our bio.

Development shapes how communities live, gather and belong. So where do artists fit in?    Too often, arts and culture show up at the end of development. A mural. A performance. A ribbon cutting. Yet culture is not decoration. It is infrastructure.    In her blog, Nicole Murray (@divinedevotions ) of @agapecollective shares why centering artists in equitable transit-oriented development helps ensure growth reflects the identity, memory and aspirations of the people who live there.    She also introduces the Creatives Table, a space where artists, developers, funders and civic leaders come together to align ideas, build partnerships and shape community-centered development.    When artists are included from the beginning, development becomes more connected, more inclusive and more reflective of the communities it serves.    See the link in our bio to read the full reflection.
