So excited to finally reveal the narrators for THE GLORY OF GOLD - a sapphic Peruvian dark fantasy about an ambitious Incan soldier and a reluctant princess on a quest across the empire 🌞🇵🇪🏳️🌈
@elenarrey will be voicing Sinchinrei and @domfranceschi will be voicing Quillari (an unexpected character 🫣) in the audiobook edition coming June 23rd, 2026 from @simonmaverickaudio
Preorders are open now!
From the first audition tapes, I just knew. I wanted someone bold and relentless for Rei and someone sinister yet nuanced for Quillari. Both these narrators brought so much emotion and life to these characters.
Getting to make this with fellow latine creators means everything to me 💛 representation mattered at every step of the process from writing to casting.
Thank you so much to the team bringing The Glory of Gold to life!

“Karen Russell, the magical realism and prose virtuoso, conjures the American Dust Bowl. Her vibrant imaginings are voiced by a stellar cast. Sophie Amoss shimmers as the Antidote, a “prairie witch” who takes verbal deposits; Asphodel Oletsky, a teen recently orphaned when her mom was murdered, is vividly portrayed by Elena Rey; and the masterful Mark Bramhall inhabits the sane, sensitive, long-suffering wheat farmer, Harp Oletsky. The audiobook’s action occurs between two immense weather events six weeks apart in 1935–an epic dust storm dubbed “Black Sunday” bookended by a torrential rain and flood. The novel is set in fictional Uz, Nebraska; highlights include dramatic dust and wind descriptions, a talking scarecrow, and a camera that makes its own photos of the past, the present, and a possible future.”

Happy birthday to ME!!!! ✨ Cheers to 26!!
I figured we could all use a laugh, so in this post you will find: a DIY mermaid watching a magic show, an off-duty Elphaba, and a recently shat-on tourist of Edinburgh (they’re all me) among some other favorite moments of my 25th year.
I’ve retroactively titled 25yr old me as “Elena the Brave.” This year was many things – the first half was bravely living abroad, traveling, and participating in a dance performance for the first time in a decade. The second half was bravely coming home and tending to wounds, staying present through it all even when I wanted to hide. I’m proud of myself and grateful and looking forward to 26!
Feeling pretty chuffed to be an inaugural member of the Vanguard Cohort 2025! Feeling pretty wowed to be featured among such amazing narrators! 🎙️✨
Thanks for the kind words about Oye @deadlineawards !!
