I am honored to have received my first degree from Professors Ron and James Hill this past weekend. It has been a while since I've been able to share the mats with them and pick their brains in person. Being a student of theirs for 20 years now, I was reminded of the feeling I would have every night after training. It wasn't just the techniques we'd learn or how physically demanding the sessions would be. I was always so impressed by how much knowledge they had to give, their ability to teach it, and how they never stop learning themselves. No matter where anyone was in their journey, they could explain techniques and concepts in a way that spoke to each individuals current level of understanding as well as how they best learn. They effortlessly balanced the intensity of hand-to-hand combat with light-hearted banter while maintaining the essence of what training is.They encompass all aspects of what being a true martial artist means: passing skills on beyond competition. They've cultivated an approach to training in any style that I strive to emulate.
Orlando City Jiujitsu is an extension of @hillbrosfightingsystems . Our jiujitsu is an approach to fighting. We do not limit ourselves to particular ways of grappling. Adaptation is key. SUDA: Fight Everything, my Professors' saying back in the day. This lives on in OCJJ 🙏🏽.

After dropping his first match to points, Gabe battled back ending the day 3-1 taking bronze while X brought home the gold with two dominant wins by submission. Extremely proud of these guys continuing to challenge themselves. More experience was gained, more lessons were learned, and more improvements to be made. Well done gentlemen 🙌🏽 . We roll on! Osu!
Brings me great joy to say @__cansas_ has retired his forever blue for a shiny new purple!
