Patrix by @vasyadmytryk 🇺🇦 A ceramic installation exploring how wartime Ukraine manufactures the "ideal citizen-soldier." Serial clay figures, repeatedly molded and kiln-fired to eliminate defects, embody the state's demand for unbreakable, uniform warriors. Arranged in grid formations evoking military parades, casualty statistics, and cemetery rows, the work critiques the gap between society's expectation of collective invincibility and the individual fragility of those who serve. It questions how we honor, distance ourselves from, and ultimately look away from the human cost of war. 1. Video by artist 2. @ela.bialkowska

We are pleased to present two recently acquired works by Italian artist Jacopo Benassi (1970*) titled 𝙁𝙖𝙜𝙨 (104 × 84 cm, JAB.00027.O) and 𝙁𝙖𝙜𝙨 (78 × 54 cm, JAB.00031.O), both dated 2024. The pieces are currently on loan to Palazzo Ducale in Genoa (@palazzoducalegenova ) and can be viewed as part of “Jacopo Benassi Libero!” until 14 September 2025. “Everything is held together by indestructible belts, the ones usually used for car roof racks, often painted by the artist. These belts are stretched to the brink of breaking the frames and glass, thereby heightening the impression of strength and extreme fragility in the installations, which they also become a formal element of. In fact, one could argue that, rather than giving ‘a’ body to photography, Jacopo Benassi’s journey is aimed at giving ‘his own’ body to photography, so that there is no longer any distance between his physical being and his work.” —excerpt by Antonio Grulli written on the occasion of Eden, the artist‘t recent solo exhibition at Mai 36 Galerie, Zürich. Slide one: Fags, 2024. Fine art photo paper print, wood, artist frame, tension belt, signed & dated verso, 78 × 54 cm (30 ¾ × 21 ¼ in.), JAB.00031.O Slide two: Fags, 2024 Fine art photo paper print, wood, artist frame, tension belt, signed & dated verso, 104 × 84 cm (41 × 33 1/8 in.), JAB.00027.O Slide three: Jacopo Benassi, Eden, installation view at Mai 36 Galerie, Zürich, CH.
