The incredible Isaac Roman Quezada @egoflesh from a few weeks ago at Big Boys! ISAAC ROMAN QUEZADA (they/them) is a 27-year-old Latinx multidisciplinary artist and curator based in Las Vegas. Their work is a rich exploration of identity, expression, and the boundaries between playfulness and restraint. Navigating the intersections of their pansexuality and Latinx roots, they attempt to engage in an ongoing dialogue about personal and collective experiences, pushing and pulling between whimsy and gravity. As a self-described "scrambled eggs" art handler, they approach curation and the handling of art with a keen sense of humor and intuition, all while maintaining a deep respect for the transformative power of each piece. Whether through painting, sculpture, or mixed media, their work invites the viewer to feel the tension between exuberant expression and the quiet weight of its absence. The difference between these states is not subtle—Isaac Roman Quezada's pieces make it clear when they are playing, and when they are not. With each stroke and each sculpture, Isaac Roman Quezada challenges expectations, blurring the lines between lightness and seriousness, and creating a space where both can coexist. Their recent exhibitions and curatorial projects include INAUDITX x Holland Project and INAUDITX x SPCKFRT (2025), VESSEL (2024), Lucky Gut (2023), Never A Cat's Paw (2023), OOPS! (2023), Scrambled Again (2023). Join us THIS weekend at the Lab for our third OOPS! Show, juried by none other than D.K. Sole @dksole Reception on the 25th from 4-8 pm! Remarks at 6:30! The Lab is located in el Mercado (Boulevard Mall) suite 224. Can't find us? Click the link in our bio!

This week at the Lab: Big Boys, a group show featuring Chris Bauder @chrisbauderart , John McVay @punkboy7667 , and Isaac Roman Quezada @egoflesh Can't find the Lab? Check the link in our bio! BIG BOYS articulates the multifaceted angles of contemporary masculinity. These -often- double edged swords create challenges for building a cohesive society based in compassion, as well as working through fear. Sexuality, softness, and ambiguity are obliterated in contemporary attitudes leaning towards traditionalism. "The Masculine Masquerade" (MIT Exhibition 1995) centered on the inverse of complex conversations about feminism, it addressed the void of descriptors applied to, then, contemporary masculinity. In the last 30 years, these conversations have been both tended to and ignored. The freedom for gender expression has expanded, but so has the fear of the other. ‘Effeminiate men’ have been a consistent fear in the context of post cold war American nationalism, building an ethos that this nation would fall without them. Simultaneously, abrasively rugged men can also generate violence on both a nationally and communally domestic level. “Western society has had an enormous investment in mainstream masculinity, typically defined as white, heterosexual, and dominant. Until recently this standard definition remained largely unexamined. As earlier studies of the construction of femininity have demonstrated, any attempt to understand the male gender also requires an acknowledgement of its social diversity and an expansion of its traditional parameters to include such important factors as race, class, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. The Masculine Masquerade seeks to examine that diversity.“ - Masculine Masquerade press release, 1995 This contemporary iteration is no different- it's important to evaluate what has changed, and what hasn’t. This exhibition seeks to encourage conversation about gender and its future.

“Sigh” Family’s can grow if at least one person can show everyone they can do it! A moment with them really helps, I’ve been so burnt out and on hiatus it’s stupid, being forced to what feels like proving yourself constantly is dumb. You have your life in your hands, you help your home stay afloat (with the coop play of a loving person(and an amazing one too (s/o Alexys) we can come together and be better. I wasn’t raised with words of encouragement, I wasn’t raised with compassion, I was raised to avoid these emotions to survive, and I refused to abide. Feel Cry Look goofy Laugh Yell Please I urge you Sigh Take a deep breath, We got a lot of work to do But don’t worry I got your back! Dtf Down to feel
