This is the beginning of a mix series by me, the butcher bird. It is called Double Yolk and the premise of the series is that I will go b2b with as many friends as will put up with me. It is quite self-indulgent, because Iām a limelight-loving Leo šš¾āāļø. I also really love b2bs because it means I get to hang out and jam with a person I like, as well as getting to think about my collection in new and interesting ways.
The series is genre agnostic. I think the best b2bs are the product of two people whose collections are quite different, because when thatās the case, they create something together that they couldnāt have done on their own, so come to it with zero expectations other than that youāll hear some great tunes.
Primarily, this series is about noodling around and having fun. Tracklists are not provided simply because the thought of adding that to my admin list made me not want to do the series and also because Iām fairly sure everything I play is easily Shazamable, but if you come across anything that isnāt, just ask (nicely :) ) and Iāll be happy to provide, and Iām sure my b2buddies will do the same.
Eggs forever.

Suuuper excited to share my mix now that itās out! With 945 submissions (apparently 11 times more than the previous season!) it was a huge privilege to be one of the 30 chosen.
Join me on a ride through some techno, breaks, EBM and acid - itās hot and heavy throughout. It was a pleasure to put this together; at times hands-in-the-air fun, and at other times introspective and deep. Thereās a lot going on, which is exactly how I like it as a dancer too. The sets I enjoy the most are the ones that are a smorgasbord of sound, unabashedly maximalist and playful. I hope thatās how youāll feel while listening. Swipe for clips and track list, as always š¤
Big big thank you to @bccoberlin for this opportunity. It is easy to feel disheartened and like youāre bleating into the void when sending mixes out. This has been a huge confidence boost for me and I feel excited about putting together more mixes for more opportunities. Thank you to @glenn.seven and Toby from BCCO for being so kind and friendly and to the whole team for listening to the mixes and everything else that went into this š
The news out of Palestine in the last couple of days has left me feeling especially despairing. Iām in a contestant state of impotent rage because it feels like nothing we do makes any difference because the government doesnāt care. Then I remembered the impact that collective action had on McDonaldās etc and so I collated a few resources that would help with that. This includes BDS lists, the Gaza e-Sims website and some printable supermarket labels by @spellingmistakescostlives for those pots of Sabra hummus etc.
So if you too feel like you want to do a little more than share things to stories but keep forgetting where to start, perhaps this would be helpful.
The QR code in the post takes you straight to the link, or you can access it through my bio. So if anyone asks for links you can just point your phone at them :)
Please feel free to suggest additions etc. Itās lacking things like templates you can use to email your MP and so on.

Last month I was too exhausted to record a show, but this month Iām back on the airwaves, fuelled by a cluster of excellent gigs and nights out that lit a fire in me, and itās good to be back š„
This monthās show is a blend of new delights and old favourites and I am very happy with how it came together (so much so that I did a bit of bellowing into the mic before I got my shit together and calmed down). Wall-to-wall electro and techno, maximalist mayhem, with dystopia throughout.
I only realised once Iād gotten the show together that I also opened my March show with a track by Jauzas the Shining š whose name Iām sure I continue to mispronounce. I have been digging deep through his discography and found so much stuff I loved that I almost did a show just on his work. Please go look it up!
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing queen Deena Abdelwahed play at Phonox last month. She was brilliant, there was so much joy on that dance floor; she could have gone anywhere with that set and weād have happily followed. Shortly after that I went to Donāt which was unreal. Not only were the tunes wild, the crowd was so lovely. Made some new friends, saw some old friends, danced so much my feet nearly fell off. That in combination with playing a couple of lovely gigs recently has lifted my spirits, and Iām looking forward to summer :)
Listening Spa by Young Adults is forthcoming on @private_parts_records .
Also, it was only after I did the show that I realised that HR101 is another of Human Rebellionās aliases, but Iām still not sure why theyāre billed as āHuman Rebellion x HR101ā on that track, so if anyone can explain that to me please do :)

I had the best time at @queensyardsummerparty š„¹š I wasnāt sure what itād be like opening a (sort of) indoors venue on a sunny day, but people really showed up! The vibes in @growhackney were beautiful right up until the end when it was rave sardines for Jaye Ward and Elena Colombi. I had more track ID requests, fist bumps and cheers than I couldāve hoped for. Big thank you to @rosieama for the invite and the trust, it was an enormous privilege being on this lineup for @humanendeavourrecs and @clubscp āØš
Tracks in the videos are:
Bubblegum (Andrew Weatherall Remix) - Confidence Man
Iām Your Queen - @anastasiazems
Thank you also to @eddsowden and @dj_paniolo for the pics and vids šš¾

For tonightās @moderadio.london Iām joined by my musical clone: the butcher bird, for a very exciting B2B showcasing all the weird and wonderful corners of bass, dubstep and electro.
Tune in 7-9pm tonight!!
Special triple yolk edition for Double Yolk 002! Iām so happy to have done a mix with my pals @balaclavaboifriend and @dj.drperra ; itās extra special because we all learned to DJ together in 2023 through @mixnights :)
This mix was definitely a hangout first and a mixing session second. We went at it with only the slenderest of plans and the knowledge that it would be fun because we have quite different collections that also unexpectedly work quite well together. We opted for chaos mode and went track for track, and this is mix is a long sashay through some slinky, bouncy, groovy bits. It was also a rare digital set from Dr Perra who is normally a wax-only queen.
Thank you to these two for giving up some of their sunny bank holiday Monday to jam in a windowless Pirate studio š swipe for snippets and cute pics.

The inaugural mix of the Double Yolk series is of course the b2b that gave me a taste for b2bs: when @mfceol and I went to @mssnldn last year and played some dubstep and other bits. A dream pairing, as our collections went so well together and the whole thing felt smooth and symbiotic.
Weāve since done a b2b in the club at MF Ceólās party @start_parties and it was just as dreamy, especially playing more high-octane tunes under a bit of pressure. Sadly that set wasnāt recorded, but swipe for a foggy photo thatās proof it happened, and for some snippets of this mix.
