Moved back home, turned 30 n starting work as a youth worker after studying for a year. Gonna try stay off socials to connect to where and who I’m with and maintain my sanity. Focusing on my next album and still taking on gigs intermittently but definitely a step back. Love to everyone over the last year and the recent memories. Excited for this next decade of my life and the lessons/gifts aging is giving me. Keep in touch via [email protected] 🪽
Horse MacGyver - ‘Bing Bong’ LP launch / world premiere
Friday 20 February at the Federation Bells, Middle Terrace Birrarung Marr, Melbourne
w/ supports J. and e-fishpool
7pm start
Free admission, no bookings required
City of Melbourne is proud to present the premiere live performance of Horse MacGyver’s ‘Bing Bong’ - an exciting new work for Federation Bells and electronics.
Bing Bong is the blazing third LP by Horse MacGyver @ugh_ddt , aka Naarm / Melbourne based media artist, sound designer, and musical provocateur Timothy Dwyer.
Horse MacGyver represents a radical approach to the construction and dissemination of electronic music that combines high-impact sonic hysteria with scalpel-like precision editing and hardware programming.
On Bing Bong, Dwyer expands his wild analogue electronic sonic palette to incorporate the clamorous sonorities of Melbourne’s extraordinary public sound sculpture: the Federation Bells
Industrial percussion collides with high energy electronics, miasmic hooks, plaintive melodies and skull-crushing production, creating a seriously unique collection of playful, chaotic, and gleefully avant-garde experimental bangers.
Fabulous supports on the night will be J. (Jarrod Zlatic / Fabulous Diamonds and Andrew Brocchi / EXEK) and e-fishpool @efishpool with live visuals by @videosynth
Don’t miss this free outdoor live electronic music event by the picturesque Yarra river.
Copies of Bing Bong LP on coke bottle transparent vinyl will be available on the night. Poster by @fraserahrt at @grincreative
MyYear
Life and Death1
Life and Death2
Life and Death3
This year has been fucking crazy
Ending up back in the city
Life collapsing and having to learn how to live all over again, or just in a new way
Every time you lose someone or something this process happens and it makes everything look different, feel different
I remember in the time before things were strange and almost everyday felt and looked different
Lately things have been more monotonous, or just clouded in grief
Not knowing who or how to be here
There has also been so much good
New and old friends have come into life
People trying to make sense of similar things
People I make music with and am inspired by
People not afraid to live or die
People who make me feel like me despite being so far from home and my family
I’ve been angry yet trying to be accepting
Growing out of myself and my own skin
Growing outta dumb shit
Realising how much everything means whilst at the same time being the most fragile
That death happens all around us all the time
That there have been just as many ecstatic moments as sad ones
And everyday I’m inspired by all the memories
I made these songs over the last week and I’m taken by how much they feel like everything I’ve felt this year. There haven’t been so many points of being able to make sense of it in any form, even musically, but recently started finding myself in it again
Thank you for reading and listening
I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my life
