š„Ā my first and definitely not the last EGGLYMPICS š„Ā
after casually discussing easter plans and ideas we surpassed the simple ones and landed on egglympics as the obvious choice to celebrate this very long danish easter weekend š£Ā
things escalated further from there and we ended up with an intricate points system and prizes for the winners š„ we went through 4 different rounds in total:
- egg painting
- egg rolling (3 times)
- egg and spoon race (3 times)
- egg throwing (had to go last for obvious reasons)
my cute egg who I named Pistachio won the painting round and I also won the egg and spoon race (!) but I never have been and never will be a thrower so another awesome warrior snagged those crowns šĀ
much to everyoneās surprise, all googly eyes stayed in tact and we only had one casualty after the throwing round!
and my only regret is not capturing that casualty in slow motion because it was a spectacular smash š„Ā
yay egglympics! š„³
I made a shark for HIER gym! š¦
I saw the big white wall and just knew a monochrome black shark was the right creature for the job!
and it didnāt occur to me at the time that shark in danish is haj, āsharksā is hajer (pronounced like higher) and the gym is called HIER (pronounced like higher)!
hello synchronicity š
thanku for @hier.training for helping me train and making me increase weights and I hope this shark brings much joy to everyoneās training! š¤
(scroll to see me carrying it on the metro lol)
Iāve been fully embracing the seasons more each year and it turns out the books are right, it does make u feel better and maybe calmer? āļø
it turns out I AM actually a human who fluctuates like nature and the seasons do and I just am not equipped for a robotic lifestyle š¤
my training organically changes each season (this winter has been all about lifting heavier and getting in a strength routine) and so does what I eat. wintery fruits and veggies are great not just because theyāre cheaper and last longer right now but because they compliment my winter vibes.
bring on the sprouts woo!
winter brings earlier work finishes for me, I lose momentum as the dusk sweeps over. and the long dark days mean falling asleep slightly earlier and starting the day a bit later but itās ok because in midsummer it all does a switcheroo š
even though my work days are shorter, I am usually super motivated in the colder temperatures (I tend to āpotatoā more in the summer) so can get more focused chunks of work done and dusted.
alongside all these winter changes, activities are adapted too. building snowpeople, baking for friend visits, browsing galleries and saturday night tv while crocheting take a front seat for three months as sheltering from the copenhagen wind and staying snuggled in blankets is priority āŗļøĀ
not to mention the winter wardrobe comes out to play; itās the snoodās time to shine and I get to awaken my jumpers from their hibernation which always brings me joy š§„Ā
donāt get me wrong, I will be super excited for spring, but right now Iām in love with winter āļø
I found my old sketchbook from fashion university and looking back it made me realise the foundations of @seabunnyishere were all there, forming their early stages š°
my first assignment was during the summer: we had to pick a word and fill a sketchbook with the exploration of it, then bring it in on the first day. lovely.
I genuinely was concerned that everyone would pick the same words and it would be the ones with the most variation and room for exploration so I picked ādirtyā but was a bit worried that it wouldnāt be that original.
I explored mould and bacteria and crime and mud and trash and looked at some photographers that fitted the brief too. I had a lof of fun and got stuck in š„°Ā
I went in on the first day and handed it in, wonderful. then, in the afternoon we got given our books back and I found out we had to present them to the class.
it was then the realisation hit me that literally everyone else had picked words like ādelicateā, āelegantā, āfeminineā and āprettyā š¬Ā one girl had taken photos of a tea party complete with floral dresses and fancy china teacups.
uh oh.
I started presenting and people were humouring me for a while but then I realised that one of the pages included a dissected placenta (slide 1 lol) and itās safe to say thatās when I lost the room and from then on my tutor heavily disliked me.
she asked me what it was and then swiftly moved on as though she wanted to remove it from her memory š„²Ā
at this point I felt like Iād gone right in at the deep end so might as well keep moving in that direction. I used my time there to develop and to find out what I like and explore my style more.
and looking back it was the start of sea bunny!
the inspiration from creepy dolls and vintage toys seems to add a sprinkle of eerie to everything I do š§
I played with watercolouring bacteria in this book and now I do all my concept sketches in watercolour (they have slightly less bacteria though hopefully).
and the overall experimentation of mess, dirt and finding beauty in the distressed has stuck and still has a place in my work and soul.
nāaww what a little foetus this sketchbook is š¶š»
