Twelve years ago that I wrote the first words. Not long after, Molly spoke for her, gave her voice.
Line by line, coffee by coffee, Jess herself came to life. Oleksíy, Joel, Zak, Aaron, Kat, my dad, all helping with voice or animation or music. Six years ago this small piece of her story found itself stuck in the limbo of tomorrow, of tired, of passing minutes and days and hours, of maybe, of possibly, and finally of lost time and regret. Of its shape that led to lines that led to sketch that led to ... well, very nearly nothing.
Six years later, I couldn't bring myself to accept that outcome, and neither could Oleksíy.
Improbably, Rainfall found its way back to life.
And the film has travelled, with us along with, winning more awards than we could ever have hoped for. Beverly Hills, Seattle, Rome, London, Ottawa with the wonderful Mirror Mountain Film Festival, and finally, amazingly, in Toronto for the Canadian Film Fest, in a theatre at the Scotiabank that was full of you, our loves. I will never forget it.
Thank you all.
Here it is.

And to all of you, who asked about it, wondered aloud through the quiet years, and you who have watched and given this little slice of Jess's youth a moment to play out, to exist. It means everything.
