Elisa Piazzi

Meet Elisa Piazzi Elisa Piazzi (IT, 1996) is an artist and practice-based researcher based in The Hague. Informed by meticulous preliminary research that combines theory, workshops, and public discussions, Elisa’s work is materialised through self-publishing, drawing and space making. Embracing the term “artist as a critical body”, she uses her practice as a tool for questioning the world and society around us. Experimental and self-organized education are fundamental in her practice. Elisa believes that decentralizing knowledge, a principle embedded in most of her projects, fosters mutual understanding over one-sided and exclusive educational approaches. SEEK is a collection of conversations to reconstruct moonhorn language. YOU is a collection of images I came collected as I was thinking about moonhorns. . Moonhorns are a mystery in archaeology. They are undefinable objects, dating back around 1300–600 BCE, and have been found throughout the North Alpine region. More than seven hundred have been found in Switzerland alone - too many to discard their existence as a mere coincidence. So what could they have been? . SEEK YOU documents my search of giving these mysterious Bronze Age objects a home. I held conversations with Erika Berdelis, a Swiss specialist of Bronze Age ceramics and moonhorn replica makin. I talked to Raquel Jiménez Pasalodos, a Spanish music archaeologist invested in the material remnants of music we will never get to hear. And I spoke to Jan van Muijlwijk, a Dutch radio enthusiast specialised in moonmoonbouncing seeking connections beyond this earth and the simple importance of reaching out. . In conversations I attempted to construct moonhorns, moonhorns made entirely of words, a terrestrial moonhorn, a sonic moonhorn, a cosmic moonhorn. It documents the research that has gone into making my project ‚Moonhorn‘ exhibited @hotelmariakapel . Seek You is a two-part publication. You is a library of images. Seek is the documentation of conversations held to reconstruct moonhorn memory. You is made up of images of moons, of moonhorns, of horns, of things I saw and associated and came across as moonhorns were making a home in my mind. Seek builds moonhorns made entirely of words, a terrestrial moonhorn, a sonic moonhorn and a cosmic moonhorn. Neither Seek nor You, nor the two together, are a history of moonhorns, they aren’t a chronological investigation, but instead they are simply points of reference. They are a form to document the research I conducted alongside making my own moonhorn imaginations. .
