Hey guys! Long time no see! Well, there were a few projects cooking that required full attention and here we are now slowly introducing them for your eyes only 🤗 After years of hard work and working with an amazing team, the Dekotora book is taking shape! I was quite lucky to work with the @editionpatrickfrey team where everyone is so devoted and treats every single book they make with love and care. They are as great professionally than they are humanly ❤️ I was also so happy to be able to work on this project with the amazing designers Heijdens Karwei (thank you @teunvdh and Sandra!). Thank you so much to Sebaastian @colourandbooks for making such exquisite color work and prepress files. Today, Teun and I got to be at the press for the first round of printing at @mm_mediencentrum in Germany. It was very emotional to see the book taking shape and we had the opportunity to work closely with an amazing team passionate about printing and dedicated to get the best possible result. «Smoke» by Kris Lüdi Kris Lüdi’s Smoke draws on personal memory: as a child spending summers in Appenzell, he observed local children from the position of an outsider, struck by their quiet confidence and grounded presence. The work emerges as a delayed response to that early impression. Balancing between tradition and modernity, Smoke reflects on the tension between progressive and conservative forces embedded in local customs. LEE SCRATCH PERRY forever. His contribution to sound and Jamaican music/culture everywhere lives on for eternity. This book, what a gem. What a treat to get a glimpse into his mind and home/studio through another sense 👀. I can’t thank @boomstyler for this gift, and @editionpatrickfrey for dedicating so much energy to preserving the magic that is LEE . I just opened this book to a few pages and took pics to share here, no rhyme nor reason. Stay weird and perfect humans, for our sake. Repent.

The book presents a multilayered, multimedia entity held together by a dense network of recurring themes and motifs. The evening will begin with a panel discussion featuring Martine Rose, Marc Asekhame, David Katz, and Chris Peckings, moderated by Canan Batur. Following the panel, Katz will guide a listening session that traces the book’s visual archive to music. This session will showcase significant Black Ark productions, elusive original vinyl from Lee Scratch Perry, and various archival materials. Highsteppers and Canan Batur will then present a sonic response to round out the night. «BLACK ARK» by Lee Scratch Perry The point of departure for the book «Black Ark» with Lee Scratch Perry (1936–2021) is a detailed inventory of photographs and writings from the Black Ark Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, where Perry produced his music from 1973 on. Black Ark Studios was one of the cradles of dub. It’s also where Lee Scratch Perry’s musical approach found an enduring visual counterpart in the form of continuously evolving mural paintings and drawings as well as shape-shifting assemblages of records, instruments, found objects, posters, newspaper and magazine clippings, and appropriated books. «Black Ark» which reflects the rhythm and layering effects of collage both in its content and the materials used to craft the book. Perry was involved in the conception of the book in its early stages. It also interweaves various media and chronologies. The new photographs of the Black Ark Studios are juxtaposed with stills from old documentaries and archival photos. IMPORTANT NOTE: The first edition of this book is sold out. The second edition is in progress and will be available from the beginning of April, 2026.
