When our clients begin the design process with us, we ask them to rank a set of values. For Honi, ‘Level of Finish’ trumped ‘Floor Area’ and ‘Sticking to my Budget’ trumped them all.
So on this site impacted by potential overland flow, in a neighbourhood of increasingly large white McMansions (we see you Camp Hill), we proposed a rework of the cottage and a small extension housing living room and kitchen that steps down into her beloved garden.
The original cottage exterior was left unchanged to save money, and only the smallest cue can be seen from the street of the party going on out the back.
@my_camp_hill_cottage_reno is one of those projects where the client demonstrates trust and a bit of hustle to achieve her dream without compromising those values of sticking to a budget and achieving a lovely level of finish.

Project HARTE, a @maytree_studios designed home that is future proofed against extreme weather events and as usual their quirky/cool design shines through. The icing on the cake for clients S+M is the @ecru_landarch landscape design that mitigates overland flow issues in the rear yard from neighbouring properties while providing a native plant palette that will really come into its own with a growing season or two under its belt.
