Things that made me happy this weekend: closeup (dead?) grasshopper, bees on the roof of the mall, giant dog statue travelling down the highway, and Penny keeping me company while I work. *Editing to add: ALSO, watching my fav goalie play hockey.
When I think of fall writing time, the park always calls to me. Sunlight streaming through the trees ☀️, the scent of autumn leaves 🍁 in the crisp air… Then reality hits and I’m annoyed by the squinting, the wasps, and the wind blowing my pages around. Back to the library I go! 📚 You know I’ll try again next time though! 🤪
A massive thank you to the Vancouver Children’s Literature Roundtable! @yvrchildrenslit I’m so honoured for The Weedflower to have been recognized as a finalist for the Sheila Barry Best Canadian Picture Book of the Year Award. The other 2 books named were both so deserving, and although mine did not win, the committee provided incredibly kind reviews that leave me humbled.
