MEET OUR SOLOIST | David Bester (violin) Award-winning violinist, David Bester, is active as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist. He has performed with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic, Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestraa and is the Concertmaster of the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. As the Concertmaster and Artistic Director of the ECPO, David helps develop and showcase music by local composers. David is passionate about discovering new music and exploring the creative ground where styles and genres intersect. After obtaining his BMus (cum laude) and MMus (cum laude) in music performance from Stellenbosch University under Dr Suzanne Martens, David furthered his studies in Belgium. Here, he obtained a second MMus (cum laude) from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp under the tutelage of Alissa Margulis. During his studies, David received master classes from acclaimed violinists Pavel Vernikov, Ivry Gitlis, Barnabás Kelemen, Ilya Gringolts, Priya Mitchell, Daniel Rowland, and Frank Stadler. He is currently the head of strings at Nelson Mandela University (Nelson Mandela University - Department of Music and Performing Arts). MEET OUR SOLOIST | @lynelle_kenned (soprano) On Sunday, 22 February 2026 (14h30 PM), watch Lynelle Kenned perform live with the @ecphilharmonic (ECPO) and maestro @rcme_southafrica . Lynelle Kenned graduated from the @operauct School, under the tutelage of Prof Virginia Davids. She is a multidisciplinary Performing Artist, a TV Presenter, a Corporate MC, an Actress and a Media Personality. Her list of awards include a Fiesta award for the Best Classical Music presentation (2023), a Woordtrofee (Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees 2022), the Kunste Onbeperk YOUNG VOICE (2019), a Naledi Award (2018), a Fiësta Award (2017), and a Fleur du Cap Award (2016). What a week! Had a great concert on Sunday with Richard Cock @rcme_southafrica and members of the @ecphilharmonic with @werriespies and @peterauret at the Feather Market Hall. Monday it was a Bach and Beatles concert for the Knysna Music Society. Tuesday the finals of the HumanNaudé Bursary Competition in Bloemfontein and then performing for the Swiss Ambassador on Thursday in Pretoria and flying to Zurich on Friday for my concerts starting today in Basel.
