We built โ• Not Your Average Garden Club โ• because no one taught us how to grow our own food. The skills our grandparents knew in their bones; composting, seed-saving, reading a piece of land and putting up the harvest got lost somewhere along the way. So we built the place we wished existed. Itโ€™s a 12-month membership for the soil-curious. No greenhouse aesthetic required. No prior dirt experience needed. Whether youโ€™ve got 5 acres or a fire escape, thereโ€™s a spot in here for you. A peek at what live classes look like inside: ๐ŸŒฑ Month 1 โ€” Seeds & Soil โœ… Soil health & human health with Evan Buckman (Soil Food Web) โœ… Composting year-round with The Dirt Girls Collective โœ… Gardening as cultural & generational practice with Lyla June โœ… Garden design, seeds & water with Evan Marks (The Ecology Center) ๐ŸŒฑ Month 2 โ€” Seed to Sprout โœ… Preserving the harvest with Meagan Lloyd โœ… No-dig gardening with Charles Dowding โœ… Fruit Trees 101 with Andre the Farmer โœ… Food, global happiness & finding our purpose with Graylen Brown From there: medicinal herbs, fungi, winter gardening, ecosystem design, animals in the garden, pollinator habitat, and (yes) why wildflowers save the world. A full year of seasonal know-how that actually follows the seasons. ๐ŸŒฟ Hosted by Ecoversityโ€™s Seraphina Capranos (@seraphinacapranos ) and Stephen Brooks (@stephenrbrooks ), with 75+ guest teachers including Mark Hyman (@drmarkhyman ), Adriana Ayales (@adrianaayales ), Michael Judd (@permacultureninja ), and more of the best growers, herbalists, and land stewards we know. This is the year you stop researching and start growing. See you in the garden ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŒพ ๐ŸŒฑ NYAGC Membership starts at $25/month (paid annually). Open year-round โ€” join anytime and get instant access to every past class plus everything still to come. Some knowledge was never meant to disappear.โ  How to grow food.โ  How to save seeds.โ  How to preserve a harvest.โ  How to tend the land in a way that feeds generations after us.โ  For most of human history, this wisdom lived in gardens. It was passed hand to hand, season to season, elder to child.โ  โ  And somewhere along the way, much of it was lost.โ  โ  Thatโ€™s part of why we created โ• Not Your Average Garden Club โ• A living classroom where gardeners, herbalists, farmers, seed savers, and regenerative teachers gather each week to pass this wisdom forward again.โ  โ  Because to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. And honestlyโ€ฆ we could all use a little more hope right now.โ  โ  ๐ŸŒฟ Live classes happen every week inside the club.โ  โ  Next up:โ  ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ โ€ข ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐—ฎ๐—บ ๐—ฃ๐—ฆ๐—งโ  with Meagan Lloydโ  โ€œPreserving Your Harvest: Simple & Creative Ways to Make Garden Food Lastโ€โ  โ  Come learn the kinds of skills that nourish families, strengthen communities, and reconnect us to the living world.โ  โ  Comment โ€œGARDEN CLUBโ€ and weโ€™ll send you the details, or visit the link in bio to join ๐ŸŒฑโ  โ  . . . โ  โ  #notyouraveragegardenclub #regenerativeliving #growyourownfood #permaculturelife #gardenwisdom

There are nearly 20,000 species of butterfly on earth. Every single one is dressed in living architecture too small to see with the naked eye. ๐Ÿฆ‹ It turns out thereโ€™s no pigment. No blue, no green, nothing painted on at all. The color comes entirely from structure. Thousands of microscopic chitin scales arranged like roof tiles, each one a tiny photonic crystal that bends incoming light into color that shifts as you move. The blues exist in the interaction between the wing and the light around it. Not in the wing itself. And those same wings are how a butterfly reads the sun. Theyโ€™re cold-blooded, so on a cool morning they spread their wings and bask. Warming their body just enough to fly, feed, and find your garden. According to the Old Farmerโ€™s Almanac, butterflies prefer wide, flat blooms as landing pads, and native plants are four times more attractive to them than non-native species. One garden can change where they land next. Want to know which plants bring them in? Patrick Vernuccio (@thefrenchiegardener ) breaks down pollinators and companion planting in his session at the Garden Party Summit โ€” free for 72 hours from the moment you sign up. Zach Galifianakis didnโ€™t come to the Garden Summit to be funny. ๐ŸŒฑ He came because he believes what most of us already know โ€” that the garden is the remedy. For the body, the heart, the future. โ€œThe gardenโ€™s good for us. It can be a lifesaver.โ€ Swipe through what he shared ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝ Zach is the host of This Is A Gardening Show โ€” the brand new gardening series on Netflix. That โ€œweedโ€ growing at the edge of your garden? It might be one of springโ€™s most generous gifts. ๐ŸŒฟ Chickweed (Stellaria media) has been here all along: food, medicine, and a little celestial wonder for those who stop to look. Her tiny white flowers mirror the stars. Her leaves taste like green itself. She grows abundantly, asking almost nothing in return. Can you feel the hum beneath your feet? Beltane is here, and the veil between ordinary and extraordinary has grown gossamer-thin. You simply cannot speak of this turning without speaking of her โ€” Hawthorn (๐˜พ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฉ๐™–๐™š๐™œ๐™ช๐™จ ๐™ข๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™œ๐™ฎ๐™ฃ๐™–), the May blossom. For centuries the celtic world watched for her opening, and when those white flowers came, the festival had begun. There was no other clock. She is generous in the way that made our ancestors name her with reverence. A fortress of biodiversity in the gentle shape of a tree: ๐Ÿฆ birds nest within her thorns ๐Ÿ pollinators adore her flowers ๐Ÿ‚ come autumn, her red haws feed finches, foxes, and whoever else has wandered close enough to call her hedge home And for us โ€” her leaves, flowers, & berries are an old cardiovascular herb. She tones the vessels. She eases the anxiety we carry in our chest. She meets us where our hearts are tender. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Do you know Hawthorn? How has this plant supported you? Share below ๐Ÿ‘‡ Follow for more plant lore & seasonal medicine And send this to someone who needs reminding that the earth is awake โ€” and so are they. ๐ŸŽฅ: https://youtu.be/2ora4jUu6Uk?si=NSt4Qr6V-u-eYasl . . . #hawthorn #beltane #herbalism #wildlifegarden #seasonalliving

What if the most underrated peace treaty in human history is a carrot? Zach Galifianakis, host of This is a Gardening Show on Netflix, at the Garden Summit, making the case that food grown from the ground with your own hands is the one thing people across any philosophy can still agree on. โ€œWe can Eden up the world. We can make a beautiful thing that weโ€™re supposed to be doing.โ€ โ€œI hope people from different philosophies can pull a carrot out of the ground and agree that it tastes good. Thatโ€™s a bonding thing.โ€ Food as common ground. Soil as peace treaty. A carrot as the bonding thing. He says this is really important information for the next generation to know. So do we. ๐ŸŒฟ Garden Summit attendees, this oneโ€™s in your email. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŒพ Not Your Average Garden Club members, find it in your member library.
