Moms like Krystal Peters deserve a #ChildTaxCredit!
As the cost-of-living continues to rise, parents deserve more support to make ends meet. A check for each child is the best way to invest in kids & communities.
Reach out to your state legislators today and tell them we need a Child Tax Credit in Illinois!

Time is running out for the Illinois General Assembly and Governor Pritzker to create a budget that works for Illinois families, not CEOs.
Our coalition’s proposed #ChildTaxCredit would benefit 1.5M Illinois kids directly.
Take action TODAY! Contact your legislator here at https://bit.ly/CTC4IL (link in bio)
Guaranteed income has made a difference for moms across the country, and right here in our backyard.
Over 130 guaranteed income pilots are planned, up and running, or completed since 2016 – and now the word is getting out! Last night on CBS Evening News, a story featuring Harish I Patel and Cook County Promise participant mother Adriana shows how direct cash is working for families.
🎉 Team ESIL is pleased to announce that Ameya Pawar has officially joined the Economic Security Project team as a Senior Advisor.
In this new role, Ameya will support our Child Tax Credit campaign through the end of this legislative session. He will help us advance guaranteed income in the Chicagoland area. And he will establish a table around public options policy, and explore legislative engagement around anti-monopoly both in Illinois and nationwide.
Ameya Pawar has been a Senior Fellow with the Economic Security Project since 2019 and works on efforts to advance public banking and inclusive finance. In addition, Ameya teaches at the University of Chicago's Crown School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice and was appointed to the Illinois Finance Authority by Governor JB Pritzker to help drive efforts to finance clean energy projects and green industrial policy. Ameya is a co-founder and managing partner of OKAY Cannabis, a multi-unit social equity cannabis dispensary operator in Illinois that merges cannabis and hospitality. He also serves as a Senior Advisor to the Academy Group, advising the CEO on social enterprises and real estate development in Chicago's most resilient neighborhoods.
Before that, Ameya was alderman of Chicago's 47th Ward and the first Asian and Indian American elected to the Chicago City Council. While in office, Ameya focused on labor policy and worker rights legislation that included raising the minimum wage, guaranteeing paid sick leave, creating the Office for Labor Standards, combating wage theft, and preserving housing for Chicago's most vulnerable. Ameya also chaired the Chicago Resilient Families Task Force before leaving office, the nation's first city-led effort to study guaranteed income, the expansion of the earned income tax credit, and the future of work.
Join us welcoming Ameya to the team!
We joined over 250 of our neighbors outside the Capitol to demand a budget for that prioritizes Illinois families, not CEOs.
Our budget should include a #ChildTaxCredit to give families cash to face the rising cost-of living. #twill
