It’s a new year, so I figured a new introduction was needed. I’m Dani, an award winning children’s author specialising in purposeful, sustainably made children’s books for early years. I write about a range of topics which include learning about taking care of our environment and nature, bereavement and grief as well as other topics such as sharing, for early years. I curate sustainable gifts for families and provide educational resources. I run workshops and offer author visits too as well as running s number of book gifting campaigns to give free access and ownership of our books to children and educational settings. I really love showcasing the small simple ways we can make a difference in the world, whether that’s through the sustainable choices we make or by helping others 🖤
If what I do resonates with you then I’d love you to tell me in the comments, I love collaborating with people and finding out how I can support your aims further too 😊
Our bereavement book campaign is underway and books have begun to arrive in schools to support children in understanding death and dying. A book is often the best way to begin sensitive conversations and can help children process grief and bereavement in a gentle way. Normalising these conversations can really help children before, during and after bereavement and helps them to feel less alone.
When someone you love dies the world can often feel strange and confusing, through our campaign I want children to know that’s it’s okay to have questions, that there are people they can talk to and that they aren’t alone. With grief education added to the curriculum for implementation from 1st September 2026, we want to send resources out ahead of time so schools can prepare.
What can you do? Get involved in our campaign, swipe across to the last image to find out how 🖤

Such a fantastic morning on Friday - I caught an early train back from the Gift of the Year Awards to the Cotswolds so that I could make it to the business huddle hosted by @bryony_taylor_edwards and @megs_davies - it was a session exploring creativity and creative thinking. So much fun! I had some lovely chats and caught up with familiar faces too.
Great to see you @sophie_cudworth@annabelandco@thehouseofhush@amybroadinteriors

🐰 A wonderful sharing tale, which unites a community to solve a problem.
🐭 Rabbit and Mouse both want the same nut and begin to argue. Woodland creatures, big and small, gather to try and problem solve for them.
🌰 Rabbit and Mouse finally agree to share the nut… but before they can do that, a sneaky squirrel makes a run for it with their yummy nut.
🐿️ This would be great to use as a writing stimulus in school. They could explore what happens next, write a diary or write an alternative ending - the options are endless.
🐰 A heart-warming tale which made me awwww. 🥹
It is rich in stunning illustrations which are printed on such high quality paper. An important lesson on kindness, community and sharing. 🐰🌰🐭 ad/gifted
🦔 About Hedgehog: A book about grief for young children by Dani Seatter and illustrated by Anna Stead

🦔 Wow - when this book arrived on my doorstep, I knew it was going to be special. It’s wonderfully published on the best quality paper and is something to be cherished for a lifetime.
🦔 The story starts with a young rabbit asking after his friend hedgehog. Everyone tells them that they have gone, some make awkward conversation and some run off. If you’ve experienced grief, you know it’s a true representation.
🦡 A kindly badger helps to explain that hedgehog has passed away and that it’s good to talk and ask questions. It moved me to tears 🥹
🤍 The book has pages at the back for questions and memories. I will use this book at home and at school, as it’s a beautiful exploration into understanding loss. 🤍🤍🤍Reposting with the video so people can truly appreciate this gorgeous book. 🤍🤍 AD/gifted
What do we do? Something really magical - we connect children to the planet and to the people around them. We encourage curiosity. We help children and families explore nature. We show how we can learn together. Through our beautiful books and activities, through educational and learning resources and through our beautiful curated made to last gifts 🍂

A gift for when they need it most. So proud that ‘About Hedgehog’ was Highly Commended in @the.giftoftheyear.awards in the Children’s, Pre-School and Educational category. To be an independent author running a very small business solo, it was incredible to see this achievement alongside the biggest and best in the gifting industry ❤️
I didn’t win at the gift of the year awards and I’m okay with that! I did win Highly Commended!
Firstly what an accolade to be in the top 6 products in the Children’s, Pre-school and Education category out of all the entrants. Top 6! I’ll take that.
But more than that, our bereavement book is a gift that no one would want but is greatly needed. This book is so much more than a gift. It’s a tool, a conversation starter, a show of love, support and care. What I’m building with this book is a legacy to help open conversations, help children feel less alone and more supported in talking about and processing grief. To me, that’s the greatest gift anyone could give or receive.
Thank you @the.giftoftheyear.awards for including ‘About Hedgehog’ in your list of finalists and awarding it Highly Commended. My Mum, Stepdad and brother would be so proud to know that your judges loved this book, and the legacy I’m building is for them. Because no one should feel alone in grief 🖤
Ahead of the @the.giftoftheyear.awards tonight where ‘About Hedgehog’ is a finalist in the Children’s, Pre-School and Educational category, I wanted to tell you a little bit more about me and why I wrote ‘About Hedgehog’ and a bit about the campaign we’re running to give this book plus lesson plans to schools across the UK. Bereavement education is being added to the curriculum this coming September and we want to support schools, children and families in talking about death and bereavement. You can also find further information on the website and links to buy the book and lesson plans too.
Another beautiful review of ‘About Hedgehog’ from an early years setting @parkviewwoodstock we donated the book to as part of our campaign to get it into schools for free. At @childcareedexpo we made the decision to extend this to childcare settings and providers so we could help more children understand bereavement, grief and death. It’s not an easy topic but with so many children experiencing bereavement it’s one we simply cannot shy away from. This coming September the addition of it into the curriculum means that those conversations will have to happen. Is your school ready? If you’re a school or teacher and would like a free copy of the book, please just reach out and let us know and we’ll send you a copy alongside lesson plans to support. As s former early years teacher I know how important a range of resources are and that’s where we can help.
