Behind the scenes at our Hawthorn East House. 📸
Photoshoot day is always the final chapter in our process. The quiet exhale after months of concept development, documentation, custom joinery drawings, site visits and countless decisions layered together with intention.
This project was all about contrast and restraint. Weaving contemporary into a heritage 100+ year old home.
A custom designed kitchen anchored by that stone. Pink Crystallo Quartzite, unapologetically expressive and completely worth the commitment with a considerable thickness and deliberate shadow line detail. Paired with Japanese mosaic tiles, Blackbutt timber veneer and 2pac custom shaker joinery, softened by porcelain surrounding bench-tops and warm new timber flooring throughout .
Every element carefully considered.
Beyond the kitchen, we specified iconic lighting throughout to highlight the ornate plaster ceilings and we completed the living room with Melbourne made sofa, rug and cushions, the front formal parlour with new wool carpets, layered rug and collected décor. The main bedroom was refined with the same quiet confidence. A home that feels grounded, yet individual.
Photoshoot day is more than pretty pictures. It’s a moment for our clients to truly see the transformation. To pause and appreciate how far the space has come.
And for us, it’s collaboration at its best working alongside our photographer and styling assistant, adjusting cushions, chasing light, moving artwork 20mm to the left because yes… it matters.
Grateful to create homes that feel this considered.
Collected. Layered. Intentional.

We’re in St Kilda visiting Jessica Viscarde of @eclecticcreativeinteriors stepping inside her light-filled Art Deco apartment — a layered, character-filled home that blends heritage charm with thoughtful, modern living.
Missed it? Head to the link in our bio to see how Jessica brings old and new together to create a space that feels personal, warm, and full of story.
Handover time at Milton Street.
After 12 months of design, construction, custom joinery and upholstery, this beautiful heritage apartment is ready to be lived in, loved and layered with personality.
Once a disjointed dated kitchen behind a heavy wall of cupboards and dining space now feels open and expansive without losing the sense of coziness, flowing seamlessly into the living and sunroom.
Can you believe we managed to fit a concealed microwave, double drawer dishwasher, double bin, full size refrigerator, double stacked washer dryer, laundry trough and pantry? Plus all the other essentials for a well organise kitchen - say, whaaaat?
The brief was clear:
Gimme Cotswolds cottage… light and bright, without feeling stark!
Honouring the character of the original flat while introducing warmth, texture and thoughtful detail throughout.
Behind the calm, layered feel of the apartment sits thousands of micro decisions. From concept, layouts and custom joinery to materials, lighting, textiles and finishes, to custom sofas, cushions and window treatments, each element carefully considered to create a home that feels cohesive, charming and calm. We really do make it look easy! 😮💨
We are so incredibly proud of this home and another project completed alongside @elwoodtradeservices

If you’re ready for a completely custom designed kitchen, one that works for you and your home, we have openings. We can also introduce you to builders and consultants to support you during the construction phase.

Interior designers wear a lot more hats than most people realise.
On any given day, we can be part designer, stylist, project manager, procurement officer, problem solver, creative director, logistics coordinator, accountant, receptionist, furniture removalist , negotiator, vintage dealer and …….unofficial therapist (but, sorry not offering that anymore 🤭 )
One minute we’re reviewing plans and sourcing finishes, the next we’re on site solving unexpected issues, coordinating suppliers, lifting furniture into place or styling the final details before a shoot.
While the end result may look calm and effortless, there are hundreds of moving parts behind every considered space.
A design fee isn’t simply about making things look beautiful. It’s about experience, perspective, decision making, foresight and having someone guide the process from concept through to completion, and crafting that skill for close to 15 years to make it look easy.
The reality of interior design is equal parts creativity, strategy and adaptability, and honestly, that’s part of what makes us love it. The varied role is ideal for a creative Pisces with Aries moon and rising and a Capricorn mid heaven (girl also loves astrology) 😉

Eclectic Creative’s Interior Designer Jess recently visited the @isalbi_outlet to hunt down designer pieces for upcoming interior design photoshoots and projects.
The assortment of designer pieces without the price tag was the best part! We picked up cushions, candles throw rug just in time for the cosier winter months.
Favourite part was the range of ceramic vessels, objects and styling pieces which are actually hard to source. Our eyes gravitated towards the sculptural, textural and larger vessels that would make the most amazing statement pieces on a fireplace, ledge, benchtop or sideboard.
@isalbi_outlet is located at 87 Chifley Drive Preston Melbourne and you’ll be greeted by the most helpful staff. Open 7 days a week, add this one to your list if you’re on the hunt for some designer pieces for your home. Interior designer approved ✔️

It might look creative from the outside.
But behind every space is a lot of problem solving.
My dad was an engineer, a petroleum engineer who also majored in mathematics in college in New York.
And then there was me…
A right-brain, creative Pisces who just didn’t get it.
I spent countless hours crying at my desk while he stood behind me, not understanding why it wouldn’t click. There were maths tutors. Switching between British and American school systems while living overseas.
Completely different ways of being taught, none of it landing.
I hated maths for a long time.
But eventually, I found my way into it. Through a creative lens. 🤓
Not through textbooks, but through application.
Now it shows up in a different way. It’s In how I plan layouts. How I resolve joinery. How I run my business.
I understand my numbers.
My BAS, my GST, my profit and loss.
What comes in, what goes out, what needs to work.
It just needed to make sense in the real world.
So to all of you fellow creatives crying over your math homework and shuddering at the memories, it’s ok, it’ll all make sense, soon!

Most kitchen and bathroom renovations don’t go wrong because of the finishes.
They go wrong because decisions weren’t properly resolved before construction.
Layout, proportions, lighting, storage — these are the things that need to be worked through early.
Our Kitchen & Bathroom Design service is focused on exactly that.
Working from your build plans, or starting from scratch, we refine the layout, provide detailed drawings, coordinate all fixtures and finishes, and document everything clearly so your builder can execute it as intended. It means your build quote will reflect the actual finishes and designs *you* want.
With design services starting from $10,000 + gst and confirmed after an initial consult, we’d love to work with you. We have select openings starting in May.

Wait… don’t you just pick colours?
It’s a common perception, and I understand where it comes from. The visible part of interior design is often the finishes, the materials, the final styling.
What sits behind that is something else entirely.
This is the documentation phase of a recent project, where every decision is resolved in detail before anything reaches site. Plans, elevations, junctions, dimensions, material transitions, alignment with existing architecture.
It’s where the design is tested, refined and communicated so that the builder, cabinetmaker and trades can price accurately and execute with clarity.
This is the value, this is the investment and this is the foundation of the entire project.
Without this layer, things get interpreted on site, details are missed, and the end result rarely reflects the original intent.
Good design isn’t just how something looks. It’s how it’s considered, documented and ultimately built.

Lest we forget.
I’ve had multiple family members and friends across generations and between my maternal and paternal sides serve. Today, we pause. We will remember them.
Young lives being sent across the seas, and those left behind to carry it all whilst also supporting the war effort and the family unit in every and any way they can. And to the animals that served. The anguish that must have been felt not knowing and longing to hear good news from your loved ones, I cannot fathom.
May we never forget the sacrifice and I will always honour and respect those who have served and currently stationed. Thank you.
And may this remind each and everyone of us, be kind to your neighbours, friends and foe. We all don’t have to agree, but we must come together as human kind and never ever have to go back to these times.
Lest we forget. #anzacday
When @kipandco came to visit, we used the bedroom as a bit of a playground.
Working with their latest collection, we layered in checks with stripes, softened it with pinks against olive, and changed up the colour palette whilst pairing back the extra layers.
Most bedrooms don’t need more pieces. They need better direction. This is exactly what we focus on our bedroom styling sessions, refining what you have, introducing what’s missing, and pulling it together in a way that actually feels resolved.
If your bedroom feels unfinished or a bit flat, this is where we start. Book a consultation for some inspiration, and we can make it happen.
