At the Limits of the Gaze just unboxed in the shop, and are we THRILLED 🙇‍♀️ A long overdue collection of Takuma Nakahira’s writing, translated to English—one of the sharpest, most relentless minds to in the post war Japanese landscape, and a founding voice of Provoke. His essays don’t push and tug at the limits of photography, language, and power with a kind of urgency that still feels unresolved. What makes this publication feel especially monumental is the translation itself. Bringing decades of dense, politically charged, and conceptually slippery writing into English is no small feat—so major credit to Daniel Abbe and Franz Prichard for opening up a body of work that has shaped (and challenged) the discourse around images for generations. late summer trip to Seoul 🇰🇷 I had such a wonderful time, reconnecting with old friends, meeting new people, learning about Korean art and photography, enjoying delicious Korean foods with fun people. All were possible thanks to my 언니 @winterlake__ ソウルに行ってきました。アメリカ留学時代からの愛する姉と再会しました🫂 他にもいろんな新しい人と出会ったり再会したり、韓国美術や写真に触れたり、美味しいご飯を食べたりなどで充実の旅でした。 書き残しておかないと忘れそうなので以下メモランダム。Leeum美術館でやっていた韓国の巨匠現代美術作家リー・ブル個展(写真19枚目自撮り)にいったあと、聖水でやっていたアイドルのポップアップ展示(写真20枚目自撮り)にも行ったんだけど、二つの展示手法がとても似ていた——具体的に言うと、鏡とライトの大型インスタレーションでセルフィースポットがたくさんある展示構成。もちろんテーマ的な深さとインスタレーションに使われているマテリアルには圧倒的な差があるとはいえ、現代アートっていろんなとこに影響与えてんだなと改めて思いました。

[Talk Event & Slideshow & Workshop] -Report- 大道兄弟 / Daido bros at 国際芸術センター青森 [ACAC] Aomori Contemporary Art Centre 2025.08.16 - 08.17 ACAC学芸員・原田桃望さんの企画により、青森に1週間滞在しました。8月16日には、これまで自分たちで制作してきたハンドメイドブックの一部を紹介し、原田さんにまとめていただきながらトークイベントを開催しました。予想を上回る30名以上の方々にご来場いただき、これまでの制作の経緯や、そこから出会った人々、見てもらうことで受け取った体温のある言葉、さらにそれらを通して広がっていった視点について、拙いながらもお話しさせていただきました。 その後、滞在初日から案内していただいたACACのさまざまな場所で感じ取ったことを即興的にかたちにし、ACACにあるものでスクリーンをつくってスライドショーを開催しました。森から聴こえる虫や鳥の声、風に揺れる木々の音、立体的に反響する空気、沈んでいく夕陽の中で暗闇に浮かぶ写真の光。その場が持つ環境性や固有性のなかで行うこと自体に、大きな意味があるのだと実感しました。 17日のワークショップでは、一人一冊、今後も見返すことのできる本を目指しました。限られた時間という制約のなかで、意味を排除し、曖昧な感覚を頼りに写真を選びながら一冊を制作。これまでとは異なるやり方を試すことで、自分の欲望に気づき、これから自身の写真を考え、深く潜るきっかけになることを願っています。 また滞在中、偶然にも執筆をされていたダニエル・アビーさんや高橋しげみさんと交流する機会があり、身体性や向井弘『イマージュ』、ローカルカラーについて教えていただき、そのなかで、幼少期から各地を転々としながら暮らしてきた自分たちはローカルカラーがないことについて改めて見つめ直すことにもつながり、言葉として書き残すことを含め、多くの気づきを得る時間となりました。 最後になりましたが、本企画の開催にあたり多大なご尽力を賜りました関係者の皆様、イベントにご参加くださった皆様、そして京都で快く送り出してくれた方々にも、心より感謝申し上げます。 Photo by ACAC, Tominaga, Koki Daido

在京都 Long Slow Distance 駐村3個月（其中一個月多在中之条），不只是藝術空間，這裡同時是藝術家Midzuki Shibata真實生活的家，6月21到29日，這裡將開放作為展示空間。非常開心能參與這裡的生活，一起煮飯、過日子、交流創作、認識京都。 Long Slow Distance 相信生活是藝術家重要的組成要素，在這裡我感受到很多真誠，即便沒有人看見的時候，也好好生活。 在京都討論到存在著兩種人，一種是Monk，一種是Tourists，一直在我腦中浮現。 I’m doing an artist residency at Long Slow Distance in Kyoto for three months (including a bit over a month in Nakanojo). This space is not just for art, It’s also the real home of artist Midzuki Shibata. From June 21 to 29, it opens as an exhibition space. I’m really happy to be part of daily life here. Cooking together, spending time, talking about art, and getting to know Kyoto. Long Slow Distance believes that daily life is an important part of being an artist. Here, I feel a lot of sincerity. Even when no one is watching, it’s still truly alive. While in Kyoto, we talked about two kinds of people, Monks and Tourists. 5/4(SUN) “TACO - CHU F・U・N・K” DJ： miharu、アート倉持、MCV MCV TACOS： 実弾 Supported by @deepbluecvc 18:00~22:00 入場料: 1000yen 「結局自分たちが聴いてきた音楽ってFunkに繋がってくるんじゃないか」 と割と強引な発想から生まれたFunk DJナイト「Yum Yum Funk」@Pop ! PIizzaから早一年。 今回は、千葉県・鋸南町からアート倉持氏（黒パイプ）を迎え、さらに浄土寺・外の名物タコスイベント「TACO - CHU」にジョイントして開催です。京都ローカルからは10代の頃から卓越したセンスで和モノを選曲し掘り続けるmiharuと美術史家（主に60-70年代日本の写真研究）のDan AbbeのDJ名義MCV MCVが登場です。もちろん実弾タコスも！！ 今回もそれぞれのdjから多種多様なFunkのパースペクティブを体感してみようという試みです。 とにかくこの日はインテリジェンスぶん投げで、腰から始めてみましょう。 Let’s Get Funk! “In the end, the music we've been listening to all along is connected to funk, isn't it?” With this rather bold idea, the funk DJ night “Yum Yum Funk” was born at Pop! Pizza and it's been a year since then. This time, we're welcoming Art Kuramochi(Kuropipe) from Kyonan-machi, Chiba and joining forces with the famous tacos event at Soto, Jodoji, “TACO - CHU.” From Kyoto, we have miharu, who has been selecting and digging into Japanese music with exceptional taste since her teens,and Dan Abbe, an art historian specializing in 60s and 70s Japanese photography, performing under the DJ name MCV MCV. Of course, there will be Jitsudan‘s tacos too!! This time, we aim to explore diverse perspectives on Funk through the unique styles of each DJ. On this day, let's ditch the intellect and get down to the groove. Let’s Get Funk!

For more than a year and a half, we still smell blood and rubble and feel death swirling around us.
