I had the best time speaking at Futures Friends @futuresfriends at Space House @spacehouselondon during London Design Festival. It was great to share signals and some of the thinking behind my project Happy Cow, meet everyone and have so many good conversations afterwards! ✨ I really enjoyed hearing the thought provoking ideas from the other speakers: Alina Schartner @alinaschartner , Brendan Mahony, Gemma Jones, Kojo Marfo FRSA, Leo Rayman, Nicole Ingra and Sam Narr @samnarr Thank you again to Amy Daroukakis and Rhiannon Jones @rhiannon_futures for having me and organising it. 🫶 Excited for the next one! Dust and Dusted, table tops made out of sawdust waste. During Milan Design Week 2025, the amazing work of the final-year MAMF students’ was displayed on plinths made out of @bean.made ’s workshop waste. We aimed to minimise the raw materials used for exhibition displays and repurpose some waste while at it. After blood, sweat and (a lot of) dust, Michael, Ece and I created a material mixture that foams up when layered and hardens in minutes. The result is a lightweight, strong and unpredictably beautiful composite material. Thanks to everyone who was a part of this challenge🪵!

How can we design differently? 📅 ✍️ Mark your calendars for a new, free event series in Amsterdam: the #RedesignEverythingTalks. In our new collaboration with @pakhuisdezwijger , we’ll be lending the stage to visionary creatives and innovative makers to explore climate solutions through the lens of design. The talks will explore insights from inspiring pioneers and their perspectives on design for social and climate justice. The first talks on 2 April will feature Borre Akkerdijk @byborre , Priyanka Bista @belt_studio , Edwin Gardner @edwingardner , and Ece Tan @ece_t , and be moderated by Dymphie Braun @hellodymphie . The event will be held live in Amsterdam, but a recording will be released after for our international audience. Learn more and reserve your spot at the link in our bio. #ClimateSolutions #Design

Dutch Design Week 2022 @united_matters @dutchdesignweek #ddw22 📷 @0kkkkeli0 Happy Cow is a speculative design project that questions the arbitrariness of human empathy and contradictions within anthropocentric value systems. Through the lens of commodified cows, it critiques how care, empathy, and worth are selectively distributed according to human priorities, biases and utility. By reimagining industrial farming tools as instruments of intimacy, pleasure and dignity, it confronts the emotional dissonance embedded in human-centric norms, inviting reflection on the ethics of care. #speculativedesign #speculative #criticaldesign #futures #ethics #anthropocene #empathy #unitedmatters #materialfutures

Ribbed & Dotted Examination Glove Happy Cow | Speculative bovine sex toys Can we give cows under our care the dignity of pleasure? Happy Cow is a speculative design project that questions the arbitrariness of human empathy and the contradictions within anthropocentric value systems. Through the lens of commodified cows, it critiques how care, empathy, and worth are selectively distributed according to human priorities, biases, and utility. Developed during postgraduate design research at Central Saint Martins, the project centres on industrial dairy farming as a context for challenging the moral boundaries of human-centric norms. By reimagining farming tools as instruments of intimacy, pleasure, and dignity, Happy Cow confronts the emotional dissonance embedded in anthropocentrism and invites critical reflection on the ethics of care. At its core, the project proposes speculative artefacts, a series of bovine sex toys, designed to retrofit existing farming tools. Materially and aesthetically familiar to humans, these objects expose the tension between perceived care and normalised industrial practices. Through its provocations, Happy Cow aims to elicit diverse reactions and advance the ongoing discourse on ethics, empathy, and more-than-human relations as a catalyst for reflective debate. #speculative #speculativedesign #criticaldesign #futures #ethics #anthropocene #empathy #materialfutures @materialfutures @csm_news #CSM2022
