Billy Magussen @billymagnussen is one cool dude and he’s starring in a very cool show The Audacity on AMC @amc_tv described as “A sharp look at the collision of innovation and ego, where a chaotic tech mogul’s empire and personal life teeter on the edge” It’s highly entertaining and extremely binge-worthy. For our EMMY magazine @televisionacad shoot I wanted to give Billy a ‘leading man’ magazine cover as well as reveal his gregarious personality using traditional photography along with a couple of high-tech-meets-analog techniques. Here’s one that didn’t make the final edit for my @people shoot with Valerie Bertinelli @wolfiesmom but one of my faves from that day…and a suitably Springy image for the first weekend of April 🌷🐣 Nothing makes me happier than when the person I’m photographing genuinely looks like they’re having a good time ☺️

Once in a while a show comes along that’s so good you don’t want it to end, you’re not sure whether to laugh or cry so you end up doing both, and you fall in love with each character a little more each week…that’s Shrinking on @appletv It’s my favorite show right now and maybe one of my favorite shows of all time so when Rich @bleiweissdesign and Rose @rosecefalu at EMMY Magazine @televisionacad asked me to shoot the cast I was beside myself with excitement along with admittedly some nerves. Every assignment is important and every subject will always get my absolute best effort, but this was a little different in that I felt invested in these characters, like I knew them before we even met. That’s what this show does, it pulls you into their lives, their offices, their relationships and you end up falling in love with them. I’m happy to report that each and every actor is as wonderful in person as they are in the show…life imitating art (or maybe the other way around) in the best possible way. Im very grateful to get to do this thing I love with people and characters that I love as well, thank you to everyone listed below, without their talent creativity and hard work pictures like these just don’t happen. Can’t say who or what but I can say where; Nairobi, Kenya. I feel very fortunate to get to travel for work to places I might never otherwise see, and what a warm and wonderful place Nairobi is. I’ve been meaning to express how grateful I am to People magazine’s @people Sarah Fernando for giving me the opportunity to meet and photograph Emma Heming Willis @emmahemingwillis to help promote her book “The Unexpected Journey” where she shares her experience as her husband actor Bruce Willis’ caregiver who was diagnosed with Frontotemporal dementia FTD in 2022. It’s likely you’ve seen Emma as she travels across the country on her book tour doing interviews and raising awareness for this incredibly debilitating disease. As photographers our encounters with our subjects can be brief, but some leave a greater lasting impression than others, this was one of those. To be in Emma’s orbit is to be near goodness, you can feel it, there’s an other-centered empathy, a lovely unhurried calm, loyalty, devotion…qualities that exemplify our best selves. I can’t imagine a better messenger for Bruce, this cause, and for other caregivers going through their own challenges.
