Honored to host EBAYC’s Children’s Day 2026 at Clinton Park, welcoming over 500 students from four different elementary schools for a day filled with joy, laughter, and community. For the past 2.5 years, one of our biggest goals has been to help make Clinton Park clean, safe, and welcoming enough for kids and families to truly return and enjoy the space again. Seeing hundreds of children running, playing, laughing, and bringing life back into this park was a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much. This is the heart behind the long hours, endless meetings, partnerships, and community efforts — creating spaces where Oakland youth can connect, be active outdoors, build friendships across cultures, step away from screens, and simply enjoy being kids. The energy these students brought to the park made the entire space feel alive. Moments like this make every challenge worth it. Huge thank you to @ebaycprograms for trusting us with such a meaningful event and for continuing to invest in Oakland’s youth and community.

SHADE’s Annual STOP THE P.I.M.P Community Event ✊🏽💜 Since 2008, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors has recognized the fourth week of April as Sexually Exploited Minors Awareness Week—bringing attention to the reality of commercial sexual exploitation and its impact as a form of child abuse. This event is about more than awareness—it’s about building resilience, education, and community support for our youth and those most impacted. Together, we stand to protect, uplift, and empower. #StopThePimp #SEMAwarenessWeek #EndHumanTrafficking #ProtectOurYouth #SHADEMovement

We’re incredibly proud of our EBAYC After School Program team and youth for showing up strong alongside community partners to advocate for Oakland youth and families! Our team participated in today’s rally and press conference ahead of the OUSD board meeting to voice concerns over the impact of Resolution #2425-0084. We stand in solidarity with our partners in urging the Board to rescind this harmful decision. Our commitment remains rooted in ensuring youth have access to safe, enriching, and empowering out-of-school programs that support their growth and success—both academically and socially. #ProtectAfterschool #OaklandYouthMatter #EBAYC #CommunityPower

The pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, particularly for young people’s mental health. In response, the EBAYC Sacramento Team provided a platform for them to share their stories. The resulting video series documented their lives and challenges and showcased the personal growth and self-discoveries that empowered them to reclaim their sense of self, culture, and heritage. Two standout videos - Hmong Pride and Unspoken - will be featured in the upcoming Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival on May 2nd and May 3rd. Hmong Pride documents Kennedy and Laichee’s journeys in learning about their families’ history and how the Vietnam War impacted their families’ different generations. Through interviews with families, Kennedy and Laichee found themselves empowered by their families’ tragic experiences with the war that was once unknown to them, and their bonds with their families are forever strengthened. Watch the Hmong Pride trailer here. Unspoken pulls you into two 17 year olds, Charlene’s and Kevin’s, worlds as they courageously navigate the struggles that have weighed heavily on them since childhood. Charlene had spent years wondering who her biological father was, and the journey in finding him was more painful than the image she held all this time. Kevin has lived with selective mutism since he was 7 years old and has spent over a decade in silence. As he documents his world through film, he begins to realize that breaking free from his past means confronting the very thing he fears most — his voice. We’re a little late with the update, but our 3rd Annual Children’s Day was another huge success! Despite the chilly, overcast weather, the day was filled with endless laughter, joy, and bright smiles☀️. We couldn’t have done it with out the incredible support of our dedicated staff, parent leaders, @oaklandtrybe , and amazing community partners. Thank you for helping us make this celebration so special for our youth! 💜✨ #childrensday#ebaycprograms#communitylove#ebayc#supportouryouth#communityprograms

👀✨ What does parent power look like? At Manzanita Community School, it looks like Antonio taking time to sit front row in a literacy observation — because learning how his daughter is being taught matters. Through Lit for Literacy, families are stepping into classrooms, taking notes, and building skills to support learning at home and beyond.💪📚 CLICK THE LINK in our bio to read the full story! 💪📚 #PoderFamiliar #EastOakland #LaLecturaImporta #ManzanitaCommunitySchool #EBAYC #LitForLiteracy #ParticipaciónFamiliar
