The Boulevard (@boulevardva ), a modern American-meets-Asian fusion restaurant, debuted this spring in Clarendon’s former Wilson Hardware space. Owner Antonis Karagounis (Mayflower, Decades) recruited Juan “Nacho” Olivera, the chef/owner of Adams Morgan’s Eater 38-designated spot Ceibo, to consult on an expansive menu of bao bun sliders, croquettes, one delicious burger, bright-red beetroot risotto, steak frites, and sushi rolls. Head to the top to encounter a chic, Mediterranean-styled rooftop called Solset (@solsetbar ). At the link in bio, read more about Clarendon's newest rooftop bar. ✍️: @tiers2you 📸: @reylopezphoto_

It’s opening day for Catahoula (@catahouladc ), D.C.’s New Orleans-styled restaurant that slides into the scenic Southeast waterfront site that housed All-Purpose pizzeria. Named for the state dog of Louisiana, Catahoula has much more than crawfish boils in store. Look for oysters, carved prime rib, giant po’ boys, seasonal gumbo, and wok-fried alligator from chef Thomas Malz, plus French Quarter cocktails via D.C. beverage vet Rachel Sergi. Head to link in bio to read all about the Big Easy-loving newcomer on the banks of the Anacostia River. Plus, check out our full Navy Yard neighborhood map. ✍️: @tiers2you 📸: @flipsh0t

The D.C. outpost of Uchi (@uchirestaurants ), an Austin-based chain centered around sushi, is finally touching on Tuesday, May 12, just a few blocks south of Dupont Circle. Global flavors get mashed up with Japanese techniques at the fast-expanding Hai Hospitality empire, with specialties like the hama chili crudo and fried milk dessert. Local chef Rob Drennan, the former senior culinary manager for Rose’s Restaurant Group, is bringing his own culinary expertise to the D.C. menu. Read more about the elegant new dining room and bar at the link in bio. ✍️: @rosellypolly 📸: @sophiemacphoto and @uchirestaurants

It truly is the year of the steakhouse, with no shortage of hot new openings across the country. Here in D.C., chef Ryan Ratino (@r_ratino ) — best known for his Michelin-starred Jônt and Bresca — brings Georgetown the gothic-styled steakhouse of his dreams on Thursday, May 7. Ox & Olive (@oxandolive.dc ) is laser-focused on dramatic specialty cuts you can't find anywhere else in the city. Classic steakhouse starters and sides also get a glow-up here, joined by over-the-top nostalgic desserts and martinis at the bar. Check out Eater DC's first look inside the candle-filled steakhouse at the link in bio. ✍️: @rosellypolly 📸: @reylopezphoto_

Some of D.C.’s hottest incoming restaurants will showcase bright vodka pasta, succulent goat neck, and freshly made sausages. On Saturday, Eater attended the popular annual food festival New Kitchens on the Block (@newkitchensonthebloc ) to get a taste of the dining destinations that should be on your radar this year. Here are some of the biggest D.C.-area openings to watch — and a peek at what you can expect to be on each of their menus. Look out for Eater DC’s in-depth anticipated summer openings roundup in May. ✍️: @rosellypolly 📸: @reallyfarrah at @messhalldc (plus one fried chicken pic by @rosellypolly )

Over the past year, major cities across the country have been experiencing a steakhouse resurgence — but these aren’t your grandfather’s classic midcentury steakhouses. Chefs are presenting sizzling meats with unique spins, showing off their personalities in sides and throwing in fun elements like Skee-Ball or high-fi speakers. There is one thing they all have in common: Diners can’t seem to get enough of them. At the link in bio, check out the most exciting steakhouse openings across the country this year. And see more of High Steaks, Eater's weeklong dive into steakhouse culture, live now across all our channels. ✍️: @monaeats and @tiers2you 📸: @the86.nyc , @braseroatlanticodc , @slimsbalharbour (Michael Stavaridis), @cuernonewyork (Sofia Barraso), @eatsouula , @superprime.sf (@mattatouille ), @maroonlasvegas , and @starroverhtx

Think steakhouses are all the same? Our favorite versions across the country are entirely unique, offering experiences that are less about meat and more about distinctive, once-in-a-lifetime vibes. In our slightly off-kilter steakhouse superlatives (our cheeky awards for these mostly untraditional steakhouses), we pay homage to the steakhouse hidden behind a liquor store, the one that serves as hook-up central for boomers, the one hosting gamblers late into the morning, and more. At the link in bio, find more steakhouses that charm us for extremely specific reasons, and keep an eye out on our channels for more of High Steaks, Eater's weeklong dive into steakhouse culture. 📸: @craneclubrestaurant , @mussoandfrankgrill (David Jon/Getty Images), @stelmosteakhouse (The Washington Post/Getty Images), @anniesparamountdc (The Washington Post/Getty Images), and @superprime.sf (@mattatouille )

How would you turn a a song by The XX (@thexx ) into a cocktail? That’s the inspiration behind this tzatziki-washed French 75 from Press Club (@pressclubcocktailbar ) in D.C. We asked managing partner Will Patton (@ramseydanger ) to show us how it’s made. 🎥: @gabbyflozano_

Freshly made pastas steal the show at the D.C. outpost of Argentinian steakhouse Brasero Atlántico (@braseroatlanticodc ). Chef Manuela Carbone proves that Argentinians might just be "the best at everything." The Buenos Aires native is not only churning out gorgeous cuts of South American steaks on a huge open grill, she's also focusing in on seasonal produce and making unique pastas dishes she grew up eating. Watch her make sorrentinos, grilled provoleta cheese, and juicy steak the Argentinian way.
