Link in bio to sign the letter ➡️ Please also share these far and wide. We, the undersigned, are a transnational group of surfers and members of the surfing community whose ancestors come from all over the world. We encompass surfers, coaches, competitors, photographers, videographers, surf industry representatives, event organisers, surf media, and individuals associated with surf-related nonprofit organisations and businesses. We are a diverse community, spanning multiple and intersecting faiths, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender expressions, and identities, including many proud First Nations peoples from various continents. While connected through our shared love for surfing, we come together at this moment to express solidarity with Palestine. We join the growing international community – including the overwhelming majority of UN member states – who support a ceasefire. We condemn those governments who are acting complicit in the face of blatant violations of international humanitarian and criminal law.  We demand our governments support an immediate lasting ceasefire, the opening of Gaza’s borders, the release of all hostages, and the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people as necessary first steps.  All efforts internationally must address the underlying causes of these atrocities and urgently end Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism. Every effort should be made to forge a path to lasting peace with justice.  As people whose lives are built through and around the ocean, we are acutely aware of the importance of respecting and protecting Indigenous sea and country, and we will not be silent as the people of Palestine face ethnic genocide. As a global community of surfers, we stand in solidarity with the surfers of Gaza whose lives are under threat and who are being forcibly displaced from their access to the Mediterranean Sea.   We encourage others in the surfing industry and community to also speak out, without fear of retribution. We must not be complicit in these war crimes, nor silent in the face of this inhumanity. Peace and love always. 📷 @andrewmcconnellphoto #surfersforpeace

“We are not separate from water. We are part of its pure movement.” This Earth Day, we remember. We are water. Days shaped by tide, breath, belonging, belly aching laughter, “Sensing Water” invited us to slow down enough to feel what has always been true — that our bodies are not apart from the living world, but expressions of it. Through sea immersion, somatic practice, creative writing, and deep listening, we gathered at the edge of land and ocean to reconnect: – with the body as a sensing instrument – with water as teacher, mirror, and kin – with grief as a reflection of love – with creativity as a form of relational activism We walked in silence. We listened to the wind as it moved through us. We mapped our inner and outer oceans. We honoured what is breaking, and what is still alive. In a time of ecological uncertainty, this work is not about fixing the Earth from the outside — it is about remembering how to belong to it. Water connects us — across bodies, places, and time. And in remembering this, something begins to shift. This Earth Day, may we listen more deeply. Move more gently. And act from relationship, not separation. Joy as a radical act… watching this stunning performance by the legendary @pacopenaflamenco and his flamenco ensemble with the powerful yet fluid @adriana.bilbaozarra who moves like water and singer @ivan_carpio_flamenco (whose voice makes the hairs stand up on my neck) reminded me of the importance of these words… “Creating, making art, is not ignoring reality - it is a way to process what is happening, it is a way to witness, but also to make a choice to act in quiet resistance against despair. Even the smallest act is huge. Truly.” — from artist @natalie_eslick And at the time of the Spring Equinox 🌓 when creativity is the keynote. In great company with @barrybrittonart ♥️ #pacopena #flamenco #springequinox #artasresistance

“This idea that we’re separate individuals is such a strange one when you think about it. We literally begin life inside another being. We share waters. That’s how we start. (…) When in utero cells are exchanged between mother and baby. So, at a cellular level, we’re literally intertwined, blurring the meaning of the individual self. When you then think about the ocean – how entering it changes your microbiome, how you inhale sea spray full of life – you realise that exchange happens there too.” Riffing on mother as verb, the radical process of matresence, being ocean mothers, and the power of mother ocean with @sallymcgeesurf in our latest Broadcast for @finisterre (link in bio) And feeling the wisdom and power of all mothers past and present moving through me, thank you mama for all the gifts (the awesome woman in black pictured in the first photo). For more on matresence - @lucyfjones book of the same name is a must read. For all the mná. Woman. Life. Freedom. “Let us never forget those who paved the way for us, and let us continue to pave for those to come. Not only for the women we celebrate today, but for each 2 legged, 4 legged, winged and being.“ — @carinalyall Image: @marionpoizeau from the award winning doc Into the Sea, alongside trailblazers @mona_seraji and @surfshahla Excerpts from “Be Like Water” chapter, Saltwater in the Blood

A place and a people that left me salt stained and will forever have my heart… where surfing offers a lens to help us see what matters most. Our connection to one another, the interdependence of all things. And a story of how the birth of surfing was initiated by women, where young women and girls continue to trail-blaze, supported and celebrated by grassroots community initiatives like @raminsurfers_club , and Iran’s new wave of female surfers… @venous_balouch (winner of women’s surfing championship 2025) @noshin_jhn @azadeh_khalafian @rokhii.samimi khanoome @siin.en And many others… And early pioneers @surfshahla @mona_seraji @starma_ @fereshteakbari.spt @parvaneh_bahar1382 📸 photos 1-3 by @mariam.khanlou Photos 4-5 National Surfing Champions Photos 6-11 - from early surfing workshops over 10 years ago… #stopthewar #cleanyourlens #weareallcrewonspaceshipearth #internationalwomensday #womenwhosurf

🌕 On this full moon, how might we let it guide our inner tides? Long before artificial light, the moon shaped how we lived — when to sow, harvest, gather and rest. In The Moon Inside Us, @easkeybritton reflects on returning to herself through lunar rhythm — honouring the ebb and flow of energy, emotion and creativity. Living on Ireland’s west coast, she has long charted life by tide tables and lunar calendars. Just as the tide ebbs and flows and the moon waxes and wanes, so too do our energy and emotions. For most of our existence, we lived in close relationship with these cycles. Our survival depended on them. Our bodies still remember. On this full Worm Moon — long named in seasonal calendars — what if we honoured our inner and outer rhythms in how we work, rest, parent, create and move? Read The Moon Inside Us in Volume 2. “It was morning, and the sun sparkled gold across the ripples of a gentle sea.” — Richard Bach, JLS A study of water, fire, air, earth, light and shadow…noticing the glimmers, defiant acts of joy, perhaps best captured by the Irish word “loinnir” describing the glitter path created by sunlight reflecting on the surface of the water, and the joy it evokes when bearing witness… I feel uncomfortable sharing anything on here at a time where words are failing me. Then I read @oliverjeffers words on defiant joy in his latest newsletter and was gently reminded the power of savouring simple pleasures and “embracing our small joys even when there is so much work to be done.” It’s in these moments that we become more whole, connected, attuned to a frequency, “beneath the frothy surface, a steady current of small acts of kindness…” a reminder to never underestimate the beauty of simply doing things for joy. An innate wisdom held in the body of every child and all of us who once were children… #islascanarias #fuerte #Lanza #natureconnection #artofnoticing
